
R&D Engineer - Steam Turbine Blade Aerodynamics

- Design and optimize blade airfoils and steam turbine flow paths to maximize aerodynamic efficiency and minimize losses.
- Perform CFD simulations (steady / unsteady, 2D/3D) to evaluate flow characteristics, including boundary layer interactions, secondary flows, tip leakages and wet steam behavior.
- Develop and implement advanced aerodynamic features such as 3D blading, endwall contouring and shrouding for performance improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team to ensure aero-structural integration, manufacturability and thermal performance alignment.
- Correlate CFD predictions with experimental data from cascade tests, turbine rigs, or field measurements.
- Document research findings in technical reports, presentations, and support intellectual property generation (patents, papers).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline. (preferable from Govt. Engineering College)
- 5-10 years of experience in Steam Turbine Blade Design or Turbomachinery Aerodynamics.
- Proficiency in CFD Tools such as ANSYS CFX / Fluent, Star-CCM+, etc.
- Strong understanding of turbomachinery flow physics: blade loading, boundary layers, shocks, secondary flows.
- PhD in turbomachinery aerodynamics will have added advantage.
- Knowledge of blade manufacturing constraints and design-for-manufacturing principles.
