Job Summary: As a Level 3 engineer, he will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our enterprise-level IT monitoring system using Zenoss. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of our IT infrastructure through advanced monitoring and management solutions. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing improvements to optimize system performance.
Responsibilities:
1. Zenoss Implementation:
Design, deploy, and configure Zenoss monitoring solutions for the organization's IT infrastructure.
Customize Zenoss templates, policies, and thresholds to meet specific performance and availability requirements.
2. Monitoring and Alerting:
Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring of servers, networks, applications, and other critical components.
Develop and implement alerting strategies to proactively identify and address potential issues.
3. Incident Response:
Lead Level 3 support for incident resolution, providing expert troubleshooting and analysis to resolve complex system issues promptly.
Collaborate with Level 1 and Level 2 support teams to ensure timely incident response and resolution.
4. Performance Optimization:
Analyze performance metrics and trends to identify opportunities for system optimization and efficiency improvements.
Implement enhancements to improve overall system performance and responsiveness.
5. Documentation:
Maintain documentation for Zenoss configurations, monitoring policies, and incident resolution procedures.
Provide training and knowledge transfer to junior team members and other IT stakeholders.
6. Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, network engineers, and application developers, to address monitoring needs and enhance overall system reliability.
7. Vendor Management:
Collaborate with Zenoss vendors to stay abreast of updates, patches, and new features, ensuring the organization's monitoring system remains current and secure.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Systems Engineer, with a focus on implementing and managing Zenoss monitoring solutions.
In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including servers, networks, databases, and applications.
Strong scripting skills (Python, Shell) for customization and automation within the Zenoss environment.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
