A Store Officer for a fabrication plant manages raw materials (steel plates, structural components), consumables, and finished goods, ensuring accurate inventory records, secure storage, and timely supply to production. Key tasks include generating GRNs, implementing FIFO/LIFO, and maintaining ERP systems to prevent production shutdowns.Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Inventory & Logistics: Manage receipt, storage, and issuance of materials (steel, structural components) in compliance with safety standards.
  • ERP/Documentation: Generate Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), process purchase orders, and maintain accurate inventory records using ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Production Support: Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely issuance of materials against indents/schedules.
  • Stock Control: Conduct periodic physical stock verification, reconcile discrepancies, and optimize inventory levels to reduce obsolete stock.
  • Vendor Management: Assist in coordinating with vendors for delivery and quality verification of materials.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Ensure the store area is clean, tidy, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in metal fabrication, steel manufacturing, or heavy engineering industries.
  • Education: BE/DME or any relevant graduate degree.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP/Oracle).
  • Competencies: Strong material management knowledge, inventory control techniques (FIFO/LIFO), and analytical ability to generate MIS reports.
Working Conditions:
  • Typically in-person work on the shop floor or site.
  • May require working with heavy machinery for material handling.
