Company is having annual turnover of around 200 Cr. & employee strength of 200 employees & they are providing international safety standard certified bay products by their e-commerce website & online market platforms like Amazon, Flipkart & other leading online & offline platforms.Job Title - Assistant Manager - Plant Supply & Value EngineeringDepartment- Supply Chain / ManufacturingWorking days and timings - 9.30 AM to 6.30 PM (2nd & 4th Saturday off)Location - AhmedabadExperience: - 8-10 yearsCTC: 6 - 8.40LPAQualification - Post GraduationReporting To: Purchase ManagerIndustry Preference: Plastic Molding, Metal Components, Assembly Manufacturing, Baby Products D2CRole OverviewWe are seeking a proactive and strategic Assistant Manager - Plant Supply & Value Engineering to lead procurement, supply chain optimization, and cost engineering for our plastic and metal components manufacturing and assembly unit.
This role is responsible for end-to-end procurement strategy, vendor performance management, material planning, and value engineering initiatives that ensure uninterrupted plant operations, optimize costs, and improve product quality for our baby D2C brand.The position requires a strong analytical mindset, cross-functional coordination skills, and the ability to take ownership of both operational execution and strategic sourcing initiatives.Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Procurement & Component Sourcing
  • Lead sourcing and procurement of plastics (PP, ABS, HDPE, masterbatches, additives) and metal components (fasteners, fabricated/machined parts, springs, tubes, stamped components).
  • Oversee procurement of bought-out components and assembly materials.
  • Develop procurement strategies to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and timely supply.
  • Identify alternate sourcing channels to reduce dependency and supply risk.
2. Consumables, Indirects & Packaging
  • Manage procurement of plant consumables, MRO items, tools, safety materials, and indirect supplies.
  • Source primary and secondary packaging materials.
  • Monitor market trends and negotiate strategic contracts with suppliers.
3. Vendor Development & Relationship Management
  • Evaluate, onboard, and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
  • Implement vendor performance metrics (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Compliance) and conduct periodic reviews.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, MOQs, and long-term contracts to ensure cost optimization.
4. Inventory & Production Planning
  • Work closely with Production and PPC teams to forecast material requirements and optimize inventory levels.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce excess/obsolete stock while ensuring uninterrupted production.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in all documentation (POs, GRNs, supplier records).
5. Greenfield Projects & CapEx Procurement
  • Lead procurement for plant setup, expansion, and machinery installation projects.
  • Source molds, dies, fixtures, utilities, and infrastructure materials.
  • Prepare comparative statements, lead negotiations, and coordinate with Engineering and Project teams for timely execution.
6. Value Engineering & Cost Optimization
  • Drive value engineering initiatives in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Optimize material usage, reduce production costs, and improve component designs.
  • Prepare procurement MIS, cost analysis, and strategic reports for management.
  • Ensure procurement processes comply with SOPs and internal audits.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing procurement/supply chain, preferably in plastics and metals.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic materials, metal fabrication, and assembly manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience in CapEx/project procurement and plant-level supply chain operations.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • ERP proficiency (SAP / Oracle / Tally or similar).
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
