Job Description:a. Piping Design: Appointed as senior engineer- piping design on a project with the prime objective of managing assigned area or task entirely in liaison with project team and issuing deliverables and assisting in all other aspects of piping group functions based on project requirements. Activities associated with Para 1 to 6 of the Functional Competencies specify the minimum expected duties to be carried out at this level. b. Pipe Stress Analysis: Appointed as senior engineer-pipe stress analysis on a project with the prime objective of carrying activities of Pipe Stress Analysis Discipline and providing technical support through all project phases on their appointed project/s. Activities associated with Para 1 to 6 of the Functional Competencies specify the minimum expected duties to be carried out at this level. c. Piping Specification: Appointed as senior engineer- piping specifications with the prime objective of designing, developing and supporting piping specification activities to issue relevant documents on their appointed project. Activities associated with Para 1 to 6 of the Functional Competencies specify the minimum expected duties to be carried out at this level.Responsibilities:Piping Design: Detailed knowledge and proven application in all general piping design / layout aspects. Must be conversant in materials of construction, insulation, installed instruments commonly used. Thorough understanding of common equipment and capable of routing all major process and utility piping in accordance with P&IDs and project standards, including the impact of specific service conditions on piping design (e.g. vibration, two-phase slug flow). Experienced in more complex piping systems such as lined and jacketed pipe and impact of material supply and fabrication on piping design. Skilled in pipe support selection and capable of preparing SPS designs. Has developed basic understanding of material management system, stress analysis concepts and of applicable codes and standards. b. Pipe Stress Analysis: Sound understanding of impact of various factors affecting piping design, impact of stress change on piping design; creation of critical line list; maintenance of calculation index; use of computer and approximate methods for stress analysis; conversant with interpretation of design codes, (B31.1/3 etc.); Interface with other disciplines; creation of datasheets and requisition including evaluation of bids, including springs and hanger systems, bellows and hoses and confident in interpretation of design codes (B31.1/3 etc.). Confident in handling high pressure and high temperature lines and lines connecting to vibrating/rotating equipment, static equipment, fired equipment, fan coolers, pumps, re-boilers, columns etc. Experienced in rack-piping design including loop sizing and spacing. c. Piping Specification: Has a thorough understanding in field of piping specifications and design of piping components. Understanding of MSD's and DPTD's; development of pipe specification; generation of pipe classes; development of TBE's; creation of datasheets; assemblies; technical approval of post purchase order placements and order variation summaries. Sound understanding of application of codes for design of piping components and testing methods/requirements including fabrication, shop and field testing of piping systems.
