A Scrub Nurse is responsible for assisting surgeons during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment, preparing instruments, and ensuring smooth conduct of operations.Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and arrange surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile drapes before surgery- Ensure strict adherence to aseptic and sterile techniques- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies- Count surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before and after procedures- Maintain proper handling and sterilization of surgical tools- Monitor sterile field and prevent contamination- Assist in positioning and draping the patient- Handle specimens correctly and send them for lab analysis- Coordinate with circulating nurse and OT team- Maintain accurate records of procedures and instrument counts- Ensure availability of all required surgical materials before procedure- Follow hospital protocols, infection control policies, and safety guidelinesQualifications & Requirements:- B.Sc Nursing / GNM with valid nursing registration- Certification or training in Operation Theatre techniques preferred- 1- 3 years of experience in OT / Surgical UnitSkills Required:- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures- Excellent hand-eye coordination- Attention to detail and precision- Ability to work under pressure in critical situations- Good communication and teamwork skills- Knowledge of infection control and sterilization protocols (ref:biojoby.com)
