A STRIPS MILL MECHANICAL INCHARGE is a specialized role focused on the maintenance and operation of the mechanical equipment within a strip mill, particularly in the steel industry. This individual ensures the smooth functioning of rolling mills, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining quality and safety standards.Key Responsibilities:Equipment Maintenance:Conducting routine and preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment, including rolling mills, hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication systems.Troubleshooting & Repair:Diagnosing and repairing mechanical breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient production.Production Support:Collaborating with other teams to ensure smooth production flow, including coordinating with the electrical department during breakdowns.Safety & Compliance:Enforcing safety procedures and ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel, adhering to safety standards like LOTO and permit-to-work systems.Documentation & Reporting:Maintaining records of maintenance activities, production metrics, and any equipment malfunctions.Supervision & Training:May involve supervising a team of mechanical technicians, providing guidance and training on maintenance procedures and safety protocols.Inventory Management:Monitoring and managing spare parts inventory to ensure timely availability for repairs.Continuous Improvement:Identifying areas for process improvement and suggesting solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.Roll Change Planning:Planning and coordinating roll changes in advance as per production schedules.Essential Skills & Knowledge:

Strong Mechanical Aptitude: In-depth knowledge of rolling mill machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication systems.

Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.

Preventive Maintenance Expertise: Proficient in developing and implementing preventative maintenance plans.

Safety Awareness: Thorough understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to mechanical equipment operation.

Communication & Leadership: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, superiors, and other departments.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in using measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.

Experience in Steel Industry: Experience in a similar role within a steel rolling mill environment is highly desirable.
