- The Hardware Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) at MEIC is an engineering discipline that deals with both design and manufacturing support for a product under development.
- It entails, but is not limited to, activities commonly carried out during the product development process. Examples include FEA, solid modeling, prototype development and testing (electrical, mechanical and software), documentation, packaging and label development, and manufacturing process development.
- Ultimately, the Hardware Engineering Center of Excellence will design and develop products for the emerging markets.
- Strong in Allegro Tool Knowledge with latest version, Allegro Library creator and CIP database.
- Strong in Altium and Siemens Pads Tool Knowledge.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining the ECAD library which involves creation of 3D models, PCB and logical symbols and managing ECAD data in CIP Database.
- Knowledge on IPC and IEEE standards.
- Understand and adhere to current ECAD standards and Design for Manufacturing guidelines while contributing to improving current design process.
- Schematic Entry, component creation, Multilayer PCB layout (12-20 layers) including,
- High-speed boards (Gigabit ethernet communication and video distribution)
- Create, document, and maintain digital and analog printed circuit board designs, with the aid of CAE/CAD tools.
- Knowledge in setting up DRC rules and Constraints.
- Optimize layout to reduce cost and improve manufacturability and layout guidelines.
- Must know the DFM/DFX standard practices.
- Good written and verbal communication skills facilitating reviews and customer interactions.
- Must have flexible timing to work with US team sometimes.
- Possesses the ability to multi-task and work under pressure when given short notice of material.
- Participates in team decision making.
- Works in Product Lifecycle Management system (Agile) to enter and maintain component data and manufacturer information, product BOMs, approved vendor lists, creates, reviews, and approves component Engineering Change Orders.
- Provides guidance regarding part selection, design concepts, specification requirements, critical components, and alternate sources.
- Works closely with R&D, Operations, and Purchasing to assess component obsolescence risks, and proactively works with vendors to identify and implement appropriate alternatives.
- 8-11 years of overall experience in hardware product life cycle
- 7+ years hands on with printed circuit board designing.
- Possesses good organization and technical communication skills to effectively monitor and convey component end-of-life (EOL) notifications and part change notifications (PCN’s) to Purchasing and Engineering.
- Have intimate knowledge of electronic components and their applications to quickly evaluate the severity of EOL’s and PCN’s, and to evaluate potential alternates. Also is familiar with circuit design principles and board layout guidelines.
- Have strong electronic circuit analysis skills to evaluate alternate part selection.
- Has strong knowledge of electronic component industry trends, regulatory agencies, and history.
- Agile PLM experience required: Be able to search thoroughly for existing MANUFACTURER PARTS, or PCB PARTS, and understand the ECO system.
- PADS layout experience required.
- Cadence PCB Design tools (Or CAD, CIS, Allegro) & Altium experience desired: Able to verify/edit schematic symbols; able to create footprints via PCB MATRIX; CIP system experience desired: datasheet, symbols, and footprints network storage
- B.E or B.Tech, Electronics/Electrical Engineering
- Independently work on the standards of practices and executive PCB design layout projects
- Actively contribute to PCB design using different tools
- Effective management of PCB design team member
- Demonstrate skills towards high speed digital design, low power analogs design layouts.
