A commitment that helps improve infrastructure, cites and transport, and ultimately the way people live, work and travel.About the RoleSteer is looking for an enthusiastic and talented professional with a passion for transport to join our India office as a Senior Consultant with prior transportation transaction advisory and project management experience. The person joining against this role may be required to work in Gurugram or Mumbai based on the ongoing business requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that works on a wide variety of high-profile transportation projects, including traffic and revenue studies for toll roads, ridership forecast for transit, aviation and rail projects; transportation economics; finance studies and strategic policy making. You will work as part of our global team spanning across India, UK, Europe, North America and LATAM providing solutions to both private sector clients, including investors, operators and concessionaries within the infrastructure sector.We are specifically interested in consultants to assist with tasks such as:
  • Toll road transaction advisory.
  • Conducting detailed quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Managing primary surveys such traffic counts and origin-destination surveys.
  • Traffic and revenue forecasting and travel demand estimation for brownfield and greenfield toll road assets.
  • Assessing trends of key macro-economic drivers.
  • Network impacts of new and existing exogenous factors like new expressways, regulatory changes, modal shifts to/from other modes, containerization trends within commodities.
  • Business and financial modelling; and
  • Policy and regulatory advisory.
The ideal candidates will have interest in consulting and infrastructure advisory with a familiarity of key issues and approaches to quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Candidates will need to be well-rounded, with interests across all aspects of professional consulting including data analysis, report writing and presentation, project management and business development and be able to evidence the following experience and capabilities. This position will be based in our Infrastructure team and will support the team and clients with project management and the delivery of transaction advisory projects. The candidate will support the core India team to deliver existing projects and to develop a portfolio of new infrastructure transaction projects.In this role you will be required to:
  • Manage and deliver successful projects (time, cost, quality) as Project Manager, primarily on toll road transaction projects (also supporting overseas transactions).
  • Provide technical expertise and drive technical analysis (traffic and revenue forecasting), report writing and presentations to clients
  • Manage, supervise and coach more junior members of the team.
  • Deliver effective, high-quality proposals, engage in business development, and develop a market presence.
  • Drive own career path and network (internal and external).
  • Contribute to effective team performance on both financial and behavioral measures
  • Contribute to business development by writing and developing proposals.
RequirementsThe candidate should be educated to degree level from one of the following disciplines: Economics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Engineering, Transport Planning, Geography, or other numerical or transport-related subjects.
  • Have relevant prior transportation and infrastructure advisory work experience spanning 4 to 7 years, preferably having advised private sector clients on toll road transactions.
  • Have demonstrable project management experience including the ability to deliver high quality, profitable work within project deadlines.
  • Have experience of delivering successful projects, across a range of toll roads and geographies within and outside India.
  • Client facing and/or client-side experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in communicating effectively with clients both internal and external.
  • Ability to back up opinions with well-constructed, evidenced arguments; and
  • Ability to confidently explain complex analysis to non-specialists via reporting and presentations.
  • Strong analytical skills e.g., data cleaning/analysis using a range of software packages (MS Excel, Stata, SPSS, R) including an ability to analyze and draw insight from the data by doing spreadsheet modelling.
  • Ability to use Microsoft packages, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Good team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues in other disciplines and with different cultures and across time zones.
  • Openness to change and leveraging technology to solve problems.
  • Ability to act with autonomy and credibility by managing multiple deadlines and parallel tasks.
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior team members.
