When you partner with Synoptek, you engage with an ever-growing, ever-evolving IT organization that provides a high-caliber team, results growth, and clarity.Responsibilities:Role: Network Engineer, LeadDescription: The Lead Network Engineer is a senior technical and consulting role responsible for leading network operations, providing technical escalation and mentorship, and acting as a trusted advisor to customers. This role combines deep network engineering expertise with strategic consulting capabilities to improve customers’ IT maturity, resilience, and future-state readiness. This role acts as the trusted partner between the Clients, Synoptek Client Advisors, and Project Team, while mentoring Network engineers and driving high-quality service delivery.Duties and Responsibilities:Strategic Advisory & Consulting:
  • Act as the trusted technical advisor for customers, building long-term relationships and deep understanding of their business and IT environment.
  • Assist customers in developing and maintaining a strategic IT and network roadmap aligned with business objectives.
  • Identify technology improvement opportunities, future-state designs, and professional services initiatives for inclusion in customer roadmaps.
  • Identify, assess, and categorize risks, single points of failure, and technical debt, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in regular customer governance and consultation meetings, providing insights, recommendations, and trend analysis.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly Network/DCE reports, including health, trends, risks, and improvement recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with Client Advisors, Practice Leaders, and Project Teams to align consulting outcomes and delivery.
Technical Leadership:
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for network technologies including routing, switching, firewalls, cloud networking, and related infrastructure.
  • Engineer, design, configure, install, maintain, and upgrade customer network environments and supporting systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex and high-impact network issues; act as an escalation point for L2/L3 engineers.
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions aligned with customer business needs.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide advanced support during critical incidents.
  • Ensure adherence to Synoptek security, operational, and compliance policies.
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
  • Manage team performance KPIs, provide quarterly reviews to assigned team members, and create a positive work environment for network operations team members.
  • Act as a technical lead and mentor for network engineers, improving overall team capability and maturity.
  • Guide, review, and support engineers in day-to-day operations, escalations, and complex troubleshooting.
  • Assist in managing queues, priorities, and escalations to meet customer SLAs and operational targets.
  • Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation, remediation plans, and operational runbooks.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional collaboration.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Service Improvement:
  • Focus on continuous service improvement, automation opportunities, and process optimization.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and operational policies.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide leadership during major incidents.
  • Support customer training and knowledge transfer as required.
Qualifications:Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology or related field from an accredited college or university
  • In lieu of undergraduate degree, the ratio is 1:1 - meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience and vice versa
  • ITIL, CCNA (R&S, Security, Collaboration Fortinet) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
Experience
  • Customarily has at least 10 years technical experience
  • Customarily has at least 8 years network engineer experience
  • Customarily has at least 8 years of customer facing project management and client engagement experience
  • Customarily has at least 8 years mentorship experience
  • Customarily has at least 3 years technical leadership experience
  • Experience with Cisco ASR9000, ASR920, Nexus 9000, 7000, 5000 and 2000 platforms, preferred
  • Advanced experience with firewall security, access control list (ACL) management and secure remote management practices, preferred
  • Experience acting as a consultative IT expert combining both hands-on support and IT leadership/architect capabilities to provide technology direction, preferred
  • Network Technology SME experience, a plus
