- Product Strategy & Roadmap: Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for payment products, specifically focusing on Direct Debit and Mandate management across different geographies.
- Market & Regulatory Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, customer needs, and regulatory requirements related to payment systems, with particular emphasis on India (NACH, UPI AutoPay) and SEPA schemes.
- Feature Definition & Prioritization: Translate business requirements into detailed user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria for payment features. Prioritize backlog items to maximize business value.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with engineering, legal, compliance, operations, sales, and external partners to ensure successful product delivery and adoption.
- Payment Scheme Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert for various payment schemes, including but not limited to NACH (National Automated Clearing House) and UPI AutoPay in India, and the SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) schemes (SCT, SDD).
- Lifecycle Management: Manage the entire product lifecycle from ideation, design, development, launch, to post-launch performance monitoring and iteration.
- Translate data into consumer or customer behavioral insights to drive targeting and segmentation strategies, and communicate clearly and effectively to business partners and senior leaders all findings
- Ensures analytics drive appropriate marketing investment decisions and marketing plan activities
- Analyzes performance of marketing programs and business initiatives
- Ensures analysis drives appropriate marketing investment decisions and marketing plan activities
- Forecasting includes creation of key indicator curves and indices
- Work closely with internal and external business partners in building, implementing, tracking and improving decision strategies
- Makes and implements recommendations through the use of data analysis and segmentation methodologies
- Integrates key profitability drivers and measures of success make pricing offer recommendations and performs adhoc analytical requests
- Manages staff. Evaluates subordinates' performance and makes decisions regarding staffing, pay increases, promotions, terminations, etc.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
- 10+ years of experience
- Payment Domain Expertise:
- Deep understanding of Direct Debit and Mandate lifecycle management, including initiation, amendments, cancellations, and disputes.
- Extensive knowledge of India's payment ecosystem, specifically NACH (Debit and Credit) and UPI AutoPay (recurring payments via UPI).
- Solid understanding of SEPA payment instruments, rules, and regulations (e.g., SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT), SEPA Direct Debit (SDD) Core and B2B).
- Familiarity with other global payment methods on Global Direct Debit Payments ecosystem, Asia - Australia, HK, and trends is a plus.
- Product Ownership:
- Proven experience (10+ years) as a Product Owner or Product Manager, preferably in the payments or fintech industry, at a VP level or equivalent.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Ability to define and articulate product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret market data, customer feedback, and technical requirements.
- Technical Acumen:
- Ability to engage in technical discussions with engineering teams regarding APIs, integration, and system architecture for payment solutions.
- Understanding of payment processing flows, messaging formats (e.g., ISO 20022), and fraud prevention techniques.
- Regulatory & Compliance:
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex payment regulations and ensure compliance.
- Communication & Leadership:
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership capabilities to drive product initiatives and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
