Join us and build an exceptional experience for yourself, and a better working world for all.SAM- ManagerSummaryWorking in a team environment, the Manager- SAM is responsible for managing customer's licenses.The Manager will assist customers in understanding and controlling their software licensing entitle-ment, avoiding legal pitfalls related to licensing by leveraging industry best practices while expandinghost company licensing opportunities and building more-profitable, long term relationships with ourcustomers.Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities for the Role
  • Review and analyse VMware licensing agreements and entitlements, ensuring they comply with all contractual obligations and VMware's licensing models.
  • Create and manage VMware compliance reports, license position reports, and track usage to ensure all VMware licenses are being used optimally and in compliance with VMware's terms.
  • Identify opportunities for optimizing VMware licensing for cost savings, better utilization, and compliance with VMware's product offerings and virtual infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance on VMware's various licensing programs, including vSphere, vCloud, VMware Cloud on AWS, and vRealize Suite, and advise internal teams on the appropriate program selection. -
  • Analyse complex VMware licensing scenarios (e.g., perpetual vs subscription licenses, host-based vs processor-based licensing), ensuring proper allocation and usage. -
  • Assist with negotiations for new VMware licensing agreements, renewals, and managing relationships with VMware representatives to ensure favourable terms and cost-effective solutions. -
  • Offer insights on licensing for VMware's virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, VMware vSAN, NSX) -
  • Technical working knowledge of VMware cloud middleware product suits like Tanzu Kubernetes, VVF, VVS, and VMware on AWS/Azure to provide insights to customer for optimizing license consumptions. -
  • Perform reconciliation of VMware TAM, LMS and All License View entitlement reports to prepare license entitlement summary -
  • Prepare data request list (DRL) documents to capture VMware product footprints using tools such as VMware License Server, Flexera, RV Tools, and Power CLI Script to track VMware license entitlements, usage, and compliance along with RV Tools and Power CLI scripts. -
  • Knowledge about including automation for report preparation of all VMware products for reconciliation with entitlements.
  • Understanding of licensing rules in VMware hosted environment. Well versed with different virtualization technologies, data collection techniques and product consoles.
  • Prepare customized reports and comparison for cost savings along with recommendations on how to license, reconcile, re-harvest licensing entitlement.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures throughout the software development life cycle for VMware products being used in customer environments .
  • Active management & allocation of tasks and task type to ensure balanced workload distribution across the project team along with execution of individual tasks on projects based on the guidance provided by the Managers
  • Management of the Quality of the engagement deliverables across assigned team members & ensuring 100% adherence to Quality standards.
  • Customer Entitlement & License Analysis - Support and analyze customer entitlements, license contracts, and inventory across multiple publishers.
  • Reporting & Compliance - Create customized reports, compliance documentation, and cost comparison analyses to identify savings and ensure adherence.
  • Project & Task Management - Lead project execution, manage task allocation, and ensure balanced workload distribution within the team.
  • Quality & Process Adherence - Ensure 100% compliance with quality standards, complete quality checklists, and deliver within defined SLAs
  • Team Coordination & Training - Act as a single point of contact for subsidiaries, support utilization tracking, and provide cross-service training to team members.
Skills Required:
  • 8-10 years professional experience in licensing industry with successful ITAM/SAM Management/ software licensing experience across publishers is a must
  • Understanding of different VMware licensing models and programs
  • SAM Accreditation (good to have)
  • Proficient in Virtualization technologies
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience with asset management software; specific experience with ServiceNow and SAM, preferred.
