- Leadership & Team Management:
- Manage and mentor a team of application support engineers and operations personnel with expertise in Java technologies and telecom systems.
- Set clear performance goals, develop skills within the team, and foster a collaborative and customer-focused culture.
- Java Application Support & Incident Management:
- Oversee support and troubleshooting of Java-based telecom applications including middleware, application servers (e.g., WebLogic, JBoss), and related components.
- Manage complex incident resolution processes, ensuring swift detection, escalation, and root cause analysis of issues impacting telecom services.
- Monitor application performance, memory management, thread handling, and JVM tuning to maintain optimal system health.
- Telecom Domain Operations:
- Collaborate with network operations, service delivery and product teams to align application support with telecom service requirements.
- Manage support for COTS products and telecom-specific applications such as billing systems, network management tools, or customer experience platforms.
- Process Optimization & Automation:
- Develop and refine operational processes tailored to the unique demands of telecom Java applications.
- Implement automation scripts (e.g., using Java, Python, or shell scripting) to reduce manual interventions and improve incident response times.
- Utilize monitoring, observability tools to proactively detect anomalies and optimize application stability.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:
- Communicate effectively with business units, engineering teams and vendors to manage expectations and deliver transparent operational reporting.
- Provide detailed incident and performance reports, highlighting impact on telecom services and corrective actions.
- Continuous Improvement & Strategic Initiatives:
- Lead initiatives to enhance scalability, resilience, and security of Java applications critical to telecom operations.
- Stay abreast of telecom technology trends and Java ecosystem advancements to recommend improvements.
- Support cloud migration projects and DevOps adoption relevant to telecom Java applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in software application support and operations with a focus on Java applications.
- Strong expertise in Java technologies, including J2EE, Spring Framework and application servers like WebLogic or JBoss.
- Deep knowledge of JVM tuning, garbage collection, and performance optimization techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD tools relevant to Java applications.
- Project management and vendor coordination experience in telecom IT environments.
- Fast-paced, mission-critical telecom IT operations environment.
- Collaborative interaction with network operations centers, engineering, and business teams.
- On-call rotation for incident management and emergency response.
- Provide Production Application Support in US Working hours: 9 AM – 5 PM CST.
- Will need to support teams working in afternoon and night shifts.
- Team Shift hours will be 2 pm to 11 pm IST and 6 pm to 3 am IST, with night shift rotation once every 6 weeks.
