By harnessing automation, CI/CD pipelines, and agentic AI, we’re creating solutions that drive efficiency and innovation across our business.Job DescriptionWhat Youll Be Doing (Position Summary):The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the testing activities within CIBCs Core Banking and Payments Technology Quality Engineering team. This role ensures that client needs are met with the highest quality standards by overseeing all aspects of the testing process, including the design, development, and maintenance of automated test scripts. The incumbent coordinates end-to-end testing, drives continuous improvement, and ensures testing processes comply with organizational and regulatory requirements. The role works closely with project managers, business analysts, developers, quality engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality technology solutions. Design, manage, and execute end-to-end test planning activities for various projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
Develop and maintain detailed test plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
Oversee Development, execution, and maintenance of automated / manual test cases.
Track, report, and manage defects throughout the testing lifecycle, ensuring prompt resolution.
Prepare and present regular status reports, test metrics, and risk assessments to project leadership.
Ensure all testing activities comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Automation Expertise:

Design and implement automation strategies, tools, and frameworks to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
Integrate automated testing scripts and strategies with DevOps tools.

Leadership Skills:

Coach and mentor testing team members in business domain, functional testing, automation, and non-functional testing.
Ensure compliance with CIBCs test methodologies and industry best practices.
Proactively identify potential issues throughout all test phases and suggest improvements 2.
Identify opportunities to enhance testing processes, tools, and methodology.

Project Coordination:

Coordinate internal and external testing teams to ensure timely completion of test phases.
Identify and communicate obstacles or risks that may impact project timelines or success.
Maintain open communication with stakeholders and escalate issues when necessary.
Ensure test deliverables are completed, approved, and aligned to project goals and budget.

People Management:

Set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals roles support the achievement of the business units priorities and CIBCs overall goals.
Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training.
Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance, and by explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities.
Create a positive work environment and be an effective role model by championing CIBCs mission, vision, and values.
Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines, are adhered to consistently so employees understand what to expect.
Hire the right people in the right jobs to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals.

Experience: 7 + years of experienceWho You Are (Skills / Qualifications):Must Have Skills:

Proven 3+ years of experience in management role.
Proven 5+ years of experience in a Test Coordination role.
Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong understanding of Testing Life Cycle, SDLC, and Defect Management processes for application testing and support.
Proven 5+ years of experience in an Automation or equivalent technical roles.
Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Robot Framework, Parasoft SOAtest, Postman, Rest Assured, Cucumber).
Working experience with Python, Java, and SQL databases.
Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM.
Good working knowledge of QE processes and standards.
Ability to build and maintain automated testing scripts and integrate with DevOps tools.
Strong investigative and analytical skills for solving complex problem.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Strong leadership, coaching, and mentorship ability.
