Job Title Staff Scientist - Coatings / Hardcoat Summary The position incumbent will be part of technology function, provide technical expertise and leadership on new product development efforts on new silicone-based polymers, oligomers, silane materials and formulations. Drive multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) projects in Coating/Hardcoat MGPP (Multi Generation Product Planning) in partnership with cross-functional teams. Explore new technology aligned with customer/business need, enhance fundamental knowledge of existing products, document intellectual property, and develop scale-up strategy to take product from lab to plant scale Responsibilities Include Responsible for product development, design and synthesis of silicones, oligomers, silanes, resins and their formulations Develop novel synthetic pathways to produce lead candidates for Hardcoat formulations for new applications Independently plans, executes and leads projects to develop new coating solutions, characterization of materials using analytical techniques Develop and document next gen proprietary technology with IP protection and promote technology in trade shows and conferences Ability to solve complex technical challenges, generate new insights and structure-property relation through technical excellence Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders to update project status and milestone Ability to generate high quality technical reports and external publications Ability to train and guide new associates within teams Use of basic statistical tools for representing experimental data Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong safety process awareness, conduct safety reviews, hazard analysis, and lead and demonstrate EHS practices to foster safety culture Qualifications The following are required for the role Ph.D. in Organic/Inorganic chemistry or related discipline 10+ years of experience from relevant industry with domain expertise in polymer synthesis, hardcoat formulation development and silicone chemistry Strong experience in handling synthesis and formulation development, transfer new technology, products from lab to scale-up in plant Demonstrated ability in leading multiple projects and working with cross-functional stakeholders with excellent communication skills What We Offer At Momentive, we value your well-being and offer competitive total rewards and development programs.
