Job Title:Research Scientist - Coatings / HardcoatSummary: The position incumbent will be part of technology function, provide technical expertise and leadership on new product development efforts on new silicone-based polymers, oligomers, silane materials and formulations. Drive multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) projects in Coating/Hardcoat MGPP (Multi Generation Product Planning) in partnership with cross-functional teams. Explore new technology aligned with customer/business need, enhance fundamental knowledge of existing products, document intellectual property, and develop scale-up strategy to take product from lab to plant scaleResponsibilities Include:
Responsible for product development with design and synthesis of functional silicones, resins and their formulations
Develop novel synthetic pathways to produce lead candidates for Hardcoat formulations for new applications
Independently plans, executes projects aligned with milestones
Collaborate and communicate across technology teams
Understands and generate IP landscape for technology projects
Ability to guide new associates within team
Periodic calibration of product testing instruments
Adhere to lab safety practices and conduct safety discussions
Qualifications:The following are required for the role
Ph.D. in Inorganic/Materials Chemistry with 1-2 years of postdoc experience
3-5 years of industrial experience in polymer chemistry and formulation development
Knowledge of nanocomposites, surface chemistry and characterization
Demonstrated abilities in project prioritization, timelines and stakeholders management skills
