- Lead and manage the P&C actuarial team across multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, reinsurance, capital modeling, etc.).
- Develop and implement actuarial strategies aligned with business goals.
- Advise executive leadership on product pricing, portfolio optimization, and profitability.
- Pricing & Product Support
- Oversee development and maintenance of rating models for P&C products.
- Collaborate with underwriters and product teams to ensure accurate and competitive pricing strategies.
- Provide actuarial input in new product development and enhancements.
- Direct the preparation and analysis of loss reserves and technical provisions in accordance with IFRS, GAAP, and/or Solvency II (as applicable).
- Present reserve estimates to senior management and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators.
- Monitor reserve adequacy and trends; conduct deep-dive reviews and diagnostics.
- Guide the development and validation of internal models (e.g., Solvency II, RBC) to assess capital requirements.
- Contribute to risk appetite frameworks, stress testing, and ORSA processes.
- Provide insights on risk-adjusted performance measures and support economic capital allocation.
- Build and mentor a high-performing actuarial team; oversee recruitment and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with actuarial standards of practice, regulatory requirements, and internal governance policies.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors as the actuarial point of contact.
- Technology Integration: Partner with the IT and data teams to ensure that actuarial models and risk assessments are supported by robust digital infrastructure, including cloud-based analytics platforms and real-time data pipelines.
- Collaboration with Business Units: Work closely with business development, marketing, and product teams to ensure that pricing models and risk assessments align with company objectives and customer demands.
- Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure that all actuarial processes and models comply with relevant healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA and ACA, while also leveraging digital tools for regulatory reporting and compliance tracking.
- Continuous Innovation in Actuarial Practices: Lead efforts to continuously enhance actuarial methodologies, incorporating the latest in digital tools and industry best practices.
- Data-Driven Process Improvement: Identify areas where digital tools and automation can improve efficiency, reduce errors, and provide deeper insights into risk and pricing models.
- Actuarial Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing actuarial team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning, particularly in digital actuarial techniques and analytics.
- Talent Development: Build and develop skills in the team related to data, machine learning, and digital tools, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of actuarial and digital health trends.
Prior experience working with regulatory frameworks such as Solvency II, IFRS 17, or RBC.
Advanced knowledge of actuarial software and tools (e.g., Emblem, ResQ, Igloo, SAS, R, Python).
Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
