- Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals, production schedules, and cost objectives.
- Identify and qualify suppliers for raw materials, tooling, machining components, and capital equipment.
- Forecast requirements for mechanical and machining-related materials based on project and production demands.
- Technical Evaluation & Vendor Management
- Review and interpret mechanical engineering drawings to identify procurement requirements and ensure technical accuracy when sourcing parts.
- Evaluate vendor capabilities with respect to machine processes, grinding, and milling operations.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while identifying potential new vendors to enhance competitiveness.
- Conduct vendor audits to assess quality standards, machining expertise, and delivery reliability.
- Sourcing & Negotiation
- Prepare and issue RFQs, RFPs, and purchase orders for a wide range of components and services.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contract terms to achieve the best value while maintaining quality and reliability.
- Ensure cost reduction initiatives without compromising on technical requirements or supplier performance.
- Quality & Compliance
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that procured items meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Resolve technical queries with vendors related to machining tolerances, grinding precision, and milling capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and organizational procurement policies.
- Operational Excellence
- Monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as on-time delivery, defect rates, and responsiveness.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, vendor agreements, and technical specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement processes and reduce cycle times.
- Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
- In-depth knowledge of machine processes, including grinding, milling, turning, and fabrication techniques.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to technical detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, procurement software, and MS Office tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5–8 years of proven experience in procurement within manufacturing, engineering, or heavy industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in sourcing precision components involving machining, grinding, and milling processes.
- Experience in cost analysis, supplier development, and contract negotiations.
