Job RequirementsJob Title: Program ManagerLocation: PuneExperience: 8 – 12 yearsDomain: Automotive Exterior EngineeringRole OverviewWe are looking for a Program Manager (PM) to lead end-to-end delivery of automotive exterior product programs - from project definition through industrialization, validation, and series launch. This role is ideal for a results-driven leader who can own project profitability, manage cross-functional core teams, and ensure robust, on-time delivery within Quality, Cost, and Timing (QCT) requirements. The Program Manager is Plastic Omnium's single accountable representative for the project towards the customer.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
  • Ensure the OPTIMAP Project Plan and total development budget are in accordance with the agreed Customer Statement of Work and validated project scope
  • Lead core team members' OPTIMAP work packages and their agreed development budgets, in agreement with project objectives and scope
  • Establish and manage the master project timing plan; consolidate negotiated planning of each core team member ensuring conformance with customer and OPTIMAP timing plans
  • Organize project meetings, project reviews, and end-of-phase reviews with all core team members to review project status and action plan follow-up
  • Prepare and present gateway reports to the OPTIMAP committee, issue gate validation reports in anticipation of gate events
  • Consolidate threats and opportunities of each department; prioritize and manage the action plan to respond to risks throughout all project phases
  • Manage and identify deviations from the planned Project Plan; validate corrective actions proposed by core team members to realign
  • Provide periodic reporting to the program director, plant director, department managers, and sales director highlighting key project progress and risks through the program review process
  • Follow and apply the strategic direction of the division as cascaded by the Program Director
  • At project close: assess status against original objectives and feedback lessons learned
Budget Management
  • Responsible for the profitability of the project; setting core team member targets in line with project objectives (development hours, PRU, investments, cash-flow, Costs of Non-Quality)
  • Manage the complete development budget and cash-flow for the entire project
  • Responsible for financial control and reporting of the project budget using standard division tools; consolidate and report cash-flow and profitability to program reviews
  • Split the project development budget by department and delegate to core team members for their financial control and reporting (excluding payment/expenditure authorization)
  • Manage scope changes (internal/external) and ensure the project budget is updated (hours, investment, and production costs)
  • Manage project development expenditure versus planned budget; identify deviations and take appropriate corrective actions
  • Manage the project cash-flow including tooling and other costs; sole project team member authorized to approve payments to suppliers in line with PO procedures and terms
Cross-Functional Team Leadership
  • Ensure coordination of the project team: communication management, project meeting organization, conflict resolution, and building an effective team
  • Ensure the project team applies the OPTIMAP development methodology through adequate division Information Systems
  • In line with the project development budget, identify resource needs, skills, and locations to meet project objectives
  • Contribute to the annual assessment process of core team members
  • Ensure the project team applies company standards and best practices as defined by each department to maximize productivity of the development budget
  • Ensure health and safety of the project team and respect the environment
  • Cascade best practices and act as mentor for junior program managers
Customer Management
  • Serve as Plastic Omnium's accountable representative of the project for the customer
  • With the support of the PQL, ensure actions of the customer APQP process and final customer validation files (PPAP, PSW, etc.) are cascaded and managed through the project team
  • Responsible for coordination and management of all project team members' communications to the customer; ensure core team members take their responsibility in front of the customer
  • Ensure all customer deliverables (customer approval, APQP, build deliveries, etc.) are managed and delivered by the project team, report progress to the customer in line with the agreed Statement of Work
  • Identify customer scope changes to the Commercial Project Manager and the customer in accordance with the development budget and OPTIMAP project plan
  • Support the Commercial Project Manager in the negotiation of customer scope changes
  • Promote EHS and quality requirements internally and externally
KPIs & Deliverables
  • Project objectives: EHS, Development Result, Hours, NPV, Gross / Material Margins, cash at SOP
  • OPTIMAP project plan achievement and OPTIMAP IS tools completion
  • Launch Readiness and customer approval timing
  • Non-event program launch and robust manufacturing readiness
  • Cash-flow and profitability targets met at SOP
Technical Skills & Expertise
  • Automotive global requirements: IATF16949 & customer-specific requirements
  • Proficiency with OPTIMAP, KEOPS, CTQ, POMS, QUAD, and IMS (O4) frameworks
  • Understanding of plastic parts design and development for the automotive industry (exterior components preferred)
  • Understanding of injection moulding process, tooling design, and process validation
  • Project planning, master timing management, and SOW management
  • Financial control, budget tracking, and cash-flow management in a project environment
  • Risk management, escalation planning, and gate review processes
  • APQP, PPAP, and customer approval processes
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or business (Mechanical, Materials, Automotive, or related field)
  • 8–12 years of experience in the automotive industry - commercial, industrial, or engineering background
  • Previous experience in design and/or development of plastic parts for the automotive industry - exterior components strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated project management experience in a Tier-1 automotive supplier or OEM environment
  • Strong leadership with a track record of managing cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills for direct customer and stakeholder interfacing
  • Rigorous and organized, with ability to produce clear synthesis and reporting
  • English proficiency required; French skill is a plus
