Reporting to the Design Director, you'll collaborate with UX designers, UX researchers, Human Factors Engineers, front-end developers, product managers and clinical applications specialists to deliver products under the umbrella of Imaging, which enable care teams to better manage patients, imaging workflows and health system resources. Unlock your ambition, turn ideas into world-changing realities, and join an organization where every voice makes a difference, and every difference builds a healthier world.Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities:Design-to-Code TranslationWork with UX designers to translate wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes into clean, semantic, and accessible HTML, CSS and other appropriate code languagesUse our EDS (Ethos Design System) to compile responsive components and implementationsCreate reusable front-end components that can be easily consumed by development teamsEnsure pixel-perfect implementation of visual designs while maintaining cross-browser compatibilityTechnical CollaborationPartner with UX designers to understand design intent, interactions and user experience requirementsWork embedded within engineering sprints to provide technical design guidance and code reviewsCollaborate with back-end developers to integrate front-end components with APIs and data servicesProvide technical feasibility feedback during the design process to inform design decisionsDesign System & StandardsContribute to and maintain the front-end implementation of our design systemEstablish coding standards and best practices for design implementationCreate documentation and guidelines for developers on implementing design patternsEnsure consistency in component behavior and styling across productsPrototyping & InnovationBuild interactive prototypes to validate design concepts and user flowsExperiment with emerging front-end technologies and frameworks to enhance user experiencesCreate proof-of-concept implementations for complex interactions and animationsSupport user research by building testable prototypes for usability studiesQualifications/RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or Human-Computer Interaction with a minimum of 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering preferably in front-end development with strong design sensibilities.Expert proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and modern CSS preprocessors/frameworksExperience with component-based frameworks (React, Angular) and design system implementationProven experience working closely with UX/UI designers and translating designs into codeAdvanced skills in design tools (Figma, Adobe CS) and development tools (Git, build systems, browser dev tools)Understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), and cross-browser compatibilityDesired CharacteristicsExperience with healthcare or regulated industry software developmentFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and design sprintsKnowledge of performance optimization, progressive enhancement, and modern web standardsExperience with testing frameworks and automated testing for front-end codeUnderstanding of design tokens, CSS-in-JS, and modern styling architecturesExperience with animation libraries and complex interaction implementationBackground in user experience design or human-computer interactionGood problem-solving skills and ability to work independentlyExcellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersInclusion and DiversityGE Healthcare is an Equal Opportunity Employer where inclusion matters.
