Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Senior Hydro-Mechanical Engineer with in-depth experience in the design, selection, and integration of heavy rotating equipment-specifically hydro turbines , pump-turbines and large pumps-for hydropower and pumped storage projects. This role focuses on performance, reliability, and operability of mechanical systems in high-energy environments.Key Responsibilities:Provide technical leadership on turbine and pump selection (Francis, Pelton, Kaplan, reversible pump-turbines)Evaluate hydraulic-mechanical performance and operating rangesSupport transient stability analysis in coordination with hydraulic and electrical teamsOversee vendor engagement, specification development, and interface coordinationSupport installation planning, commissioning, and troubleshooting of rotating equipmentReview vibration, thermal, and mechanical design calculations from OEMsQualificationsRole Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred)Minimum of 8 years' experience in hydro or pumped storage projects, with direct involvement in turbine and/or pump systemsStrong understanding of fluid-structure interaction, rotating machinery, and efficiency performance curvesExperience with OEM technical specifications and performance testingFamiliarity with international standards (e.g. IEC, ASME, ISO) for rotating machineryAbility to interpret transient system modelling outputs and inform mechanical design decisionsStrong coordination skills and experience with multidisciplinary design teamsAdditional InformationAbout AECOMAECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
