
Solution Engineer – Substation C&P Testing and Commissioning Engineer

- Conduct testing and commissioning activities for substation control and protection systems, including relay testing, scheme testing, and protection coordination studies.
- Configuration, parametrization, goosing, interoperability, and integration of Protection IEDs with SAS systems.
- The design, engineering and implementation of substation protection systems to optimize monitoring, control, and protection functions within electrical substations.
- Responsible for preparation & approval of engineering document like FDS, SLD, PSLD, Signal List, Bill of Materials, General Arrangements (internal & External), Panel heat load calculation.
- Preparation of Testing & Commissioning documents such as FAT, SAT, Test Reports, and Schedule Plans.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to substation control and protection systems.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of substation control and protection systems with overall substation design.
- Provide technical support and training to junior engineers and field personnel.
- Experience in supporting the factory during manufacturing, mounting of equipment & wiring, testing and pre-FAT test & FAT witness.
- Knowledge in cubicle AC & DC load calculation
- Selection of suitable equipment/material.
- In-depth knowledge of substation control and protection systems, including relay settings, protection schemes, and control logic.
- Strong understanding of substation automation systems, networking and protocols, such as IEC 61850, Modbus TCP/IP.
- Knowledge of Process Bus Technology. Experience with substation testing equipment, such as relay test sets, power system simulators, and fault recorders.
- Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting relay and protection coordination studies.
- Familiarity with substation design standards and regulations.
- Parameterization, testing and commissioning of IEDs like Protection relays and Bay Control Units (BCUs).
- Experience with protection & control equipment and solutions preferably from Siemens, Alstom, SEL, GE, Hitachi, ABB make IEDs.
- Retrofitting and troubleshooting of Protection IEDs, including the replacement of CRPs.
- Willingness to travel as the role demands a minimum of 50-70% travel overseas.
- Knowledge of Major AIS & GIS components like Circuit breakers, Isolators, CSD, PDM & Interlocks scheme.
- Knowledge of Transformers/Reactors & associated Conditional Monitoring Devices etc. (Preferred)
- Planning and execution of training courses and customer presentations.
- Proficiency in using substation testing software, such as Omicron Test Universe, Doble Protection Suite, or similar.
- More weightage for candidates with hand on experience in substation automation software and protocols, including SAS systems and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3).
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- 3-6years of experience in testing and commissioning of substation control and protection systems.
- Professional certifications, such as Certified Relay Technician (CRT) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP), are desirable.
- More weightage for candidates with hand on experience in Global Project handling.
