Today most of them have limited or no access to relevant knowledge and services as the number of organizations and professionals in the space is inadequate to meet the need.Ummeed, a premier non-profit organization for children with disabilities in India, was founded in 2001 by Dr. Vibha Krishnamurthy, a developmental pediatrician. Ummeed supports children with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential and be included in society.As an organization with a workforce of ~140 committed professionals, Ummeed's transdisciplinary approach works towards:· Supporting children with disabilities through direct clinical services and helping families in their journey towards acceptance and empowerment· Building a network of trained professionals and community workers who can prevent, diagnose, and manage developmental disabilities effectively· Changing societal attitudes towards becoming more inclusive towards children with disabilities.About the Position:The Finance team at Ummeed is responsible for Accounting, Taxation, Banking, Compliance, Budgets, MIS and Risk Assessment. The team is looking for an experienced Manager to undertake all aspects of regulatory & financial reporting, tax & compliance, budget & forecasts. Primary responsibilities include:Grants and Donor Reporting:
  • To prepare donor budgets in coordination with the Fund Raising and Donor Management (FR-DM) team and tracking them periodically.
  • Forecasting/ projecting expenses related to projects and donors.
  • To review/ prepare fund utilization (FU) reports for donors with proper reasoning for variance ~10%.
  • To interact with auditors in getting FU certificate attested within prescribed timelines.
  • Regularly monitoring / reviewing Budget vs Actuals and improving processes around it.
  • To attend queries from project teams on budget allocation and expense utilization and responding to their queries.
  • Coordinate with the FR-DM team for any ad hoc donor reports.
Statutory compliances:
  • Should have good knowledge of TDS provisions with proper rates / sections and ensure timely payments and filing of returns in coordination with third party vendors.
  • Should be able to reconcile 26AS and resolve issues if any.
  • Should have good knowledge on GST compliances and ensure timely payments and filing of returns in coordination with third party vendors.
  • Keeping track of Income tax, GST and statutory notices and following up with third party vendors for resolution of such cases.
  • Should be able to independently coordinate with auditors and work on the statement of accounts, computation of income, Trust law, Income tax and FCRA returns.
  • To assist the team with income tax, GST, FCRA and other statutory filings.
Accounting & Team Responsibilities:
  • Own daily accounting under appropriate cost centres, (Book keeping, AP & AR)
  • Reviewing books of accounts, ensuring accuracy of accounting statements in line with statutory requirements
  • Maintenance of separate FCRA accounts
  • Should be able to independently handle internal, statutory & donor audits and resolution of queries.
  • Assist the team in monthly closure of books and finalisation of accounts.
  • Ensure adherence to controls and processes, and suggesting improvements where needed.
  • Support automation in the Accounts & Finance department.
  • Work closely with HR and payroll vendor to ensure timely payment of salaries
  • Ensure all statutory deductions are deposited and reported as required
  • Liaison with staff for tax declarations and subsequent compliance
  • Manage vendor payments, timely statutory deductions, and updated vendor information
  • Support planned and unforeseen business requirements, enhancements, and other finance & accounting requests
Minimum Qualifications required:
  • B.Com/ Master's in finance/ Semi-qualified CA with 4-6 years of work experience in the Accounts and Finance domain in NGO/ Charitable Trust sector.
Essential Skills Required:
  • Proficiency in computer skills and Microsoft software tools like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent knowledge of Tally ERP and Prime.
  • Experience with GST, income tax filing, and statutory payments
  • Strong organizational skills, great leadership qualities and exceptional budgeting and monitoring skills.
  • Ability to work independently, think strategically and make decisions.
  • Willing to work in a team and support team members.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi.
  • Ability to multitask and adhere to timelines.
Good to Have:
  • Advanced experience of budgeting and business analysis in TallyPrime
  • Experience with ERP systems other than Tally
