Operations flow and its interlocking.The job description for a Manager, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) in a Ferro Alloys Unit typically involves overseeing the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and optimization of all E&I systems within the ferroalloy production facility. The role combines technical leadership with operational management to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance.Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure the seamless operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical and instrumentation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, VFDs, sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
  • Maintenance & Reliability: Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans to minimize equipment failure and downtime. Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex E&I problems.
  • Project Management: Oversee E&I projects, including planning, scheduling, resource management, and execution of new installations or upgrades within the plant. Coordinate plant startups after shutdowns or breakdowns.
  • Safety & Compliance: Implement and enforce strict electrical safety standards, environmental compliance, and industry regulations. Identify and correct potential unsafe conditions and lead safety improvement initiatives.
  • Team Management & Leadership: Manage, mentor, and train E&I staff and shift incharges. Delegate tasks, monitor performance, and foster a culture of excellence and adherence to best practices.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Mechanical, Quality Control) to improve efficiency, reliability, and energy optimization of the ferroalloy production process.
  • Inventory & Cost Control: Manage spare parts inventory, optimize material requirements, and control commercial aspects of E&I operations to ensure cost-efficiency.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., project management) may be preferred.
  • Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 8-15 years of relevant experience in E&I, with significant experience in a heavy industry setting, such as ferroalloys, mining, steel, or power plants.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, automation, industrial communication protocols, and instrumentation devices is essential. Experience with specific equipment used in ferroalloy furnaces (e.g., electrode management systems) is highly valued.
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, analytical abilities, decision-making, and communication skills.
