This position is based in Chennai, India
- Executes process deliverables according to a set engineering design criterion utilizing approved engineering procedures, practices, and codes and standards.
- Takes the initiative to coordinate the design development with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.
- Knowledgeable of and performs standard discipline engineering activities on projects with minimal technical oversight.
- Demonstrated experience in process simulation and automation preferred.
- Uses specialized engineering hydraulic programs such as Flarenet, Pipeflo, PIPENET, VMGSim, etc to interpret or complete calculations.
- Uses 3D model software such as SmartPlant Review or PDSView in order to review the physical design of a plant.
· Perform design calculations using standard simulation programs (Hysys, Pro II, Unisim, and/or Promax).
· Conversant in relief calculation methodologies and industry codes and standards applicable to pressure relief design. Develop relief load narratives, relief load calculations and relief valve datasheets.
· Develop flare system design.
· Proficient in the process design of equipment, including vessels, columns, heat exchangers and package process specifications for equipment and control valves.
· Develop process engineering deliverables such as BFDs, PFDs, H&MBs, Equipment Datasheets, Utility Summaries and other process deliverables required for the facility design.
· Knowledgeable in alarm and trip setpoint rationale and process safety time calculations.
· Develop and check Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), from preliminary drawings to issue for construction
· Develop and check Line Designation Tables (line lists with process and mechanical design conditions captured)
· Perform and check hydraulic calculations - for pumps, compressors, control valves, and line sizing
· Develop and check Design Pressure and Temperature Diagrams (DPDTs) including analyzing and determining piping systems design conditions
· Participate in Plot Plan, 3D Model and P&ID Reviews
· Participate in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP/ SIL), as well as reviewing compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
· Review deliverables from licensors, other disciplines, and suppliers during the execution of the project to ensure that process intent has been adequately incorporated into the facility design.
· Identify issues (problems, value improvement opportunities) and help clarify areas of complexity during all phases of the engineering design work.
· Support informal studies and technical briefing with customers, suppliers and other departments/disciplines. Present design issues to customers and suppliers.Education and Experience Requirements:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- 13-18 years of experience in Process Design & Engineering for either Energy sector (Refining, LNG, Petrochemicals) or Pharmaceutical/Data Center/Semiconductor sector.
- Minimum 10 years' hands-on experience on Complex Hydraulics, P&ID development, LDT preparation, Simulation, equipment, and instrument datasheets, Process description, DPDT, Control Narratives, Studies, Relief Calculations, System Optimizations, Value engineering
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to coordinate work with other engineering disciplines and other stake holders
- Broad working knowledge of the principles and practices of executing large projects
