- In-country technology leadership & stakeholder management: Own senior relationships with country business leaders and represent Technology in local governance; coordinate cross-discipline teams (engineering, infrastructure, cyber, service management), including delivery of local regulatory enhancements not owned by a specific GB/GF.
- Strategy execution & portfolio alignment: Ensure Group/GB/GF/Function and Regional CIO strategies are executed locally; translate country demand into global portfolios with clear requirements, benefits, risks, and dependencies to enable prioritisation.
- Delivery, change & service oversight: Provide oversight of local execution, deployments, and the change portfolio; ensure robust incident, problem, change, and release governance to protect service quality and resilience.
- Run and engineer country-owned services: Lead end-to-end build and run for non GB/GF-owned services/solutions, including application service management, remediation, and lifecycle management.
- Technology roadmap & architecture alignment: Develop and maintain the Country Technology Roadmap across GB/GF and Technology Functions, aligned to COO priorities and business outcomes.
- Cloud, DevOps and platform modernisation: Drive adoption of cloud platforms, DevOps/CI-CD, Infrastructure as Code / Policy as Code, and automation to improve speed, control, and reliability.
- Core technology domain oversight: Provide leadership across middleware, databases, operating systems, and platform engineering, ensuring standardisation, patching, capacity, and performance management.
- Cybersecurity & infrastructure controls: Ensure compliance with cyber and infrastructure control requirements (e.g., identity and access, vulnerability management, secure configuration, logging/monitoring, resilience, backup/DR), and embed security-by-design in delivery.
- Regulatory and board engagement: Support the Regional CIO in maintaining relationships with regulators, government bodies, and Boards; demonstrate strong capability in regulatory discussions and evidence-based control assurance.
- Entity management & governance: Provide entity management responsibilities and attend COO-chaired committees; advise on critical incidents and coordinate major change events across the country/cluster.
- Financials, workforce & operating model: Own budget, headcount, annual planning, and local operating model execution; lead people change and restructuring in partnership with HR and industrial relations where applicable.
- Cluster accountability (where applicable): If accountable for a cluster of smaller countries, ensure consistent oversight, service coordination, and delivery governance across all countries in scope.
- Cloud & platform engineering: Architecture and operations across public/private cloud; landing zones, networking, IAM, observability, resilience patterns.
- DevOps & automation: CI/CD, GitOps, SRE practices, automated testing, release orchestration; Policy as Code (e.g., OPA/Gatekeeper-style controls) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform/Ansible-style automation).
- Middleware / Database / OS: Strong working knowledge of enterprise middleware, database platforms, and operating systems; patching, hardening, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
- Service management & governance: ITIL-aligned incident/problem/change; service reliability, SLAs, and operational risk management.
- Cyber & controls: Practical knowledge of security controls, threat/vulnerability management, secure engineering, and audit/regulatory evidence.
- Leadership: Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering and run teams, influencing senior stakeholders, and delivering technology advancement at pace.
- Cloud: AWS/Azure/GCP professional-level (or equivalent)
- Security: CISSP / CISM / CCSP (or equivalent)
- Service management: ITIL (or equivalent)
- DevOps/SRE: Relevant DevOps/SRE certifications (where applicable)
