- Mid level having technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, budgeting and coordinating complex assignments
- Plans and develops projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important effect on major CDM Smith programs
- Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to specialty field
- Representing CDM Smith in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work
- Acting as a mentor for Junior level Engineers
- Understand and adherence to the CDM Smith Core values, Ethics & Code of professional conduct and familiar with compliance aspects. Understand and adherence to the Leadership Competence as defined by CDM Smith
- Actively participating or assisting in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning.
- Planning, developing, coordinating, and directing a large and important project or several small projects with many complex features
- Refining your project management skills Coordinating and reviewing the work of a small staff of engineers (typically 3 to 5)
- Visualizes and assumes responsibility for new business development activities within areas of expertise
- Requires the ability and expertise to use advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of Electrical design resulting from progressive experience.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering
- 20+minimum years of experience in detailed design for high voltage substation projects through 345kV including:-
- Protective relay schemes
- Relay Schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience with Transmission and Distribution Type Substations.
- Experience with AIS Substation.
- Grounding and Lightning protection design
- AC/DC Systems including Battery Calculations
- Specification of Substation Outdoor Equipment including Detailed BOM.
- Outside Yard - Equipment layout, Electrical Clearance Diagrams
- Experience with SCADA and other Communication systems - (RTU Replacements, Fiber Equipment, Line Carrier Relay equipment)
- Knowledge of NESC
- Experience with Supervising and coordinating the work of CADD Operators, technicians and others assisting in specific assignments and Review of 3D model developed in AutoCAD, Revit etc.,
- Preparation of Electrical one-line drawings, Site and building plan drawings to show the Electrical equipment layout.
- Coordination with other disciplines at different stages to identify the problems with the Design progress.
- Experience with Performing short circuit, coordination and arc flash studies using power systems analysis software (preferably SKM).
- Experience with leading medium to large scale electrical design projects preferably involving power distribution, lighting, communications, fire alarm, and security systems design.
- Experience with reviewing shop drawings and assisting with general construction services.
- Experience with developing the design criteria, specifications and standards
- Performing independently on all assignments with minimum technical/administrative instructions.
- Able to devise new approaches to problems encountered and coordinates various technical aspect of work.
- Able to plan, investigate, conduct work requiring judgement in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques procedures and criteria.
- Able to participate to a limited degree in new business development in establishing and monitoring budgets to assess profitability.
- Able to get updated the ongoing changes in the field of Electrical engineering and motivate the junior level staff to get into the track.
- Able to perform project management function small and moderate sized projects.
- Able to plan, develop, coordinate and direct several large and important projects or a project of major scope and complexity
- Able to conceive, plan and conduct research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity, problems must be approached through a series of complete and conceptually related studies, are difficult to define, require unconventional or novel approaches and sophisticated research techniques; may be assisted by other engineers/scientists or technicians.
- Requires good communication skill and Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point)
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70).
- Experience in designing electrical systems for water/wastewater and other industrial/ facilities (building) projects
- Professional Engineering certification from accredited agencies is preferred
- Experience with reviewing the drawings/ models developed using Revit.
