We use the latest technology to deliver best-in-class experiences to our customers.Job DescriptionWhat the role is all about:As a Senior Engineer (3-5 years experience) on our Observability team, you will play a pivotal role in empowering hundreds of engineers at REA by providing them with a best-in-class observability toolkit. Your team owns and evolves our core observability stack.You will be a key technical contributor, focused on enhancing and automating this platform. You will design and build robust tooling to deeply integrate our observability services into our internal developer platform, tackling complex challenges that directly improve the reliability of REA's products and the productivity of our development teams.While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include:

Design, build, and maintain key components of REA's central observability platform, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and cost-effective.
Develop high-quality tooling and integrations to seamlessly embed observability into our internal developer platform.
Act as a subject matter expert, partnering with development teams to implement best practices in monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.
Troubleshoot and optimise complex performance and reliability issues within the observability platform itself (e.g., Splunk, New Relic).
Drive the development of automation to streamline operational tasks.
Take ownership of complex features from design through to delivery.
Mentor and support other engineers in the team.

Who were looking for:

3-5 years of engineering experience with a strong focus on observability, SRE, or platform engineering.
Deep expertise with observability tools.
Proven experience building developer-focused tooling and platform integrations using a general-purpose language.
Strong experience with containerisation and cloud platforms.
A solid understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and proactive monitoring.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions and guide other engineers.

Bonus Points for:

Experience with Open Telemetry (OTel).
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
