Embracing change and thriving in uncharted territories, the team tackles challenges related to these critical areas to deliver an optimal customer experience.
This team plays a crucial role in triaging performance, scale, and resiliency issues, collaborating closely with development teams to implement effective solutions. They are also instrumental in building and maintaining a suite of internal tools that empower various business requirements. These tools facilitate log gathering and diagnosis, load test execution and interpretation, and the simplified analysis of big data through notebooks, among other use cases. By developing these capabilities, the team enables all of Workday's applications and services to proactively own and deliver performance and scalability at various levels.
Furthermore, the team actively influences development practices by highlighting the importance of addressing performance bottlenecks. They meticulously triage and identify the root causes of recurring issues, quantifying the impact on customers and system resources with data-driven insights. They also assist other teams in analyzing the performance implications of new features, services, and microservices before their deployment. Committed to continuous improvement, the Resiliency Engineering Team constantly seeks opportunities to enhance performance within the organization and align with broader company goals.About the RoleAs a Resiliency Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the stability and efficiency of Workday's platform through proactive maintenance and innovative automation. Your responsibilities will encompass the full lifecycle of weekly maintenance activities, including preparation, automation, monitoring, triaging, refinement, and execution.You will be instrumental in designing and implementing automated self-healing mechanisms to resolve issues, directly contributing to toil reduction. Collaboration is central to this position, as you will work closely with peers and teams across the organization to shape the future direction of critical business functions related to the weekly maintenance window and tenant management.This role requires flexibility, including participation in weekend work and adapting to a flexible working schedule. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about modern technologies and actively champion innovative approaches to enhance existing systems and work practices. You will thrive in a collaborative environment, readily sharing your knowledge and embracing opportunities to learn from others.About YouBasic Qualifications:3+ years proven Systems / DevOps / SRE Engineering experience with programming experience in a high level language, e.g. Python, Java, Ruby, C#Experience working with deployment tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, or ChefExperience in monitoring, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.3+ years experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, Serverless (Lambda’s).3+ years experience with one or more: AWS or Google Cloud Platform.You have experience working in a Linux/Unix OperatingAbility to work in a high trust and innovative environment where teamwork is essentialAdditional QualificationsAbility to resolve incidents quickly across a diverse scope of complex systems and conduct thorough RCAsExperience of using Confluence, Slack & Jira a plusExperience with MySQL databases a plusOur Approach to Flexible WorkWith Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote.
