- Machine Operation & Control: Start, stop, and operate cone crushers, feeders, and conveyors, regulating the flow of material to ensure efficient crushing and prevent overloading.
- Material Processing: Reduce oversized scrap metal, iron ore, or rejected steel products into standardized sizes (tertiary crushing) to be reused in the pipe manufacturing process.
- Settings Adjustment: Adjust the closed-side setting (CSS) and open-side setting (OSS) hydraulically to control the output gradation and particle size.
- Monitoring & Quality Control: Monitor the crusher’s load, feed rate, and output quality to ensure it meets production specs. Inspect materials for impurities or foreign objects (tramp metal).
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubricating moving parts, replacing wear parts (mantles/concaves), checking hydraulic pressure, and checking V-belt tension.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Identify mechanical or hydraulic faults promptly, clear jams/blockages in the chamber, and perform basic repairs using hand tools.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate logs of machine performance, downtime, maintenance work, and production volume for supervisor review.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures, OSHA regulations, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, hard hats, and steel-toed boots.
- Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience operating crushers (cone or impact type) in a mining, quarrying, or metal recycling industry.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of heavy machinery, hydraulics, and conveyor systems.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read work orders, interpret technical diagrams, and understand metallurgy (types of steel/rock).
- Physical Fitness: Capability to stand for long periods, climb, stoop, and lift heavy items (up to 25–45 pounds).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify early signs of wear, misalignment, or malfunction to minimize downtime.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license, and in some cases, specific certifications for operating heavy equipment (e.g., excavator or loader tickets).
- Environment: Industrial plant, frequently loud, dusty, and outdoors or in a covered shed.
- Schedule: Shift work, often including weekends, nights, and overtime to meet high-volume production targets.
- Throughput (TPH): Tons of material processed per hour.
- Product Quality: Adherence to particle size specs.
- Equipment Uptime: Minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Safety Record: Zero lost-time injuries.
