The Junior Manager/Assistant Manager - Quality will lead the Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) team, ensuring all heavy fabrication activities (welding, fit-up, assembly) meet ISO 9001, AWS, ASME, or IBR standards. The role focuses on reducing rejections, managing third-party inspections (TPIA), and maintaining compliance for large-scale structural projects.Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Management System (QMS): Implement and maintain QMS in line with ISO 9001 and specific client standards. Develop Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) for fabrication and blasting/painting processes.
  • Fabrication/Welding Inspection: Review and approve WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), PQR (Procedure Qualification Record), and weld maps. Perform/supervise fit-up, dimension, and visual inspections of heavy steel structures, trusses, and girders.
  • NDT Coordination: Manage and verify Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) reports (UT, RT, MT, PT) and coordinate with TPIA.
  • Process Improvement & Documentation: Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions (CAPA) for rejections. Prepare final QC dossiers for client submission.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of inspectors and junior engineers.
  • Material Traceability: Ensure raw material inspection (MTC review) and traceability during production.
Required Candidate Profile
  • Experience: 10 to 15 years in Quality Control/Assurance within a heavy fabrication manufacturing unit (Structures, Bridges, Pressure Vessels, EPC Projects).
  • Education: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of welding processes (MIG/SAW), fabrication drawings, and codes (AWS D1.1, ASME Sec IX, IS standards).
  • Certifications: NDT Level II in RT/UT/MT/PT is highly desirable.
  • Core Competencies: Strong leadership, analytical skills for troubleshooting, ERP knowledge (SAP preferred), and experience in client/TPIA audits.

  • Reduction in in-house rejection rate.
  • Reduction in customer complaints and warranty claims.
  • Timely preparation of project dossiers.
