Role: Manager of Software Engineering (.Net Full Stack) – Morningstar RetirementLocation: Vashi, Navi MumbaiOur Team:Technology drives our business. We bring our global products to market with a mix of software, cloud, data centers, infrastructure, design, AI-driven solutions and grit.The Role: Morningstar seeks a Manager of Software Engineering to work on our Product Engineering team.The Manager of Software Engineering will work closely (both hands on technically and from a people management standpoint) with various Workplace teams (Engineering, QA, Project Management, Product Management, etc.) to help execute our strategic business and technology initiatives. They will look for opportunities to inspire and motivate our technology teams, including those focused on AI innovation, to build the best products possible. This position is in our Mumbai office.Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of Software Engineers to ensure high productivity and high-quality product development, with a focus on integrating AI capabilities.
Collaborate with product management, compliance, and other global teams to track and implement new functional requests, including those related to AI features.
  • Drive a culture of critical thinking, innovation, continuous improvement, openness, transparency, and adoption of AI.
  • Work in a hands-on technical capacity as well as in a people leadership capacity, guiding team members in AI development and ethical use of AI technologies.
  • Manage all technical aspects of the project- Participate in architecture discussions, system design, task breakdown, estimation, code reviews, QA, release etc.
  • Participate in team communication and collaborate in planning activities, including stand-ups, iteration planning meetings (IPM).
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to create and manage a realistic and detailed project schedule.
  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and escalate potential impediments to success to stakeholders and see it through eventual resolution.
  • Manage and communicate regular updates on project status (e.g., work completed, work in progress, next steps, risks, quality, KPIs, and costs) to stakeholders, peers, Product managers, and others.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our operational efficiency and effectiveness with AI native approach.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, with 12+ years of overall experience
  • Over 5 years of experience in leading and managing software teams, using agile
  • Hands-on experience with Dot Net and JavaScript, as well as JavaScript Frameworks
  • Excellent conceptual knowledge of object-oriented design and functional programming
  • Excellent knowledge on Application Lifecycle Management, CICD, release management
  • Experience with Public Cloud and DevOps principles (Amazon AWS is a plus)
  • Experience with security best practices
  • Experience with quality assurance best practices
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills
  • Self-directed/self-started and detail oriented
  • Ability to adapt to fast pace/ever changing environment
  • Strong understanding of US Retirement Industry is a big plus
  • Expertise in AI-Driven Solutions
