Success in this position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical capabilities, and hands-on troubleshooting expertiseEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSenior R&D Engineer – Root Cause Analysis and TriageThe Senior R&D Engineer will play a critical role in supporting R&D for Hugo™ Robotic-Assisted Surgery (RAS) systems through root cause analysis, triage, and issue resolution.Key responsibilities include:

Provide rapid response triage (log analysis) for reported R&D RAS system issues.
Perform hands-on hardware troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Manage root cause investigations with external suppliers and drive corrective actions.
Document investigation findings in Medtronic quality systems.
Present investigation findings to internal customers.
Recommend repair actions to the Fleet Management team.
Perform statistical analysis and trend monitoring related to component failures.
Work closely with the Released Product Engineering and R&D Reliability teams to share knowledge and support field investigations.
Support CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) investigations.
Maintain Design History Records for work performed on fleet hardware.
Provide input on design changes related to failure investigations.
This role requires exceptional analytical skills, hands-on troubleshooting expertise, and strong communication abilities to effectively collaborate across teams and deliver impactful results.

Specialized Skills or Experience:The ideal candidate will bring the following specialized skills and expertise to effectively contribute to the role:

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Analyze software logs and debug software issues.
Disassembly of complex components using basic hand tools.
Understand mechanical and electrical assembly drawings.
Write detailed and concise technical reports.
Manage multiple tasks and customers simultaneously

Nice to Have (Preferred Skills):

Experience with mechanical failures.
Familiarity with highly regulated and/or safety-critical systems.
Proficiency with QNX and Linux operating systems (GUI and command line interfaces).
Knowledge of mechatronics and robotics.
Understanding of mechanical and electrical interfaces.
Familiarity with communication protocols, sensors, actuators, and controllers.
Understanding the kinematics of mechanisms.
Experience with vision and display systems.

Experience

8 to less than 12 Years of experience or with an advanced degree with 7+ years of experience

Education

Required: - B.E or B.Tech in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical
Preferred: - M.E or M.Tech in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical.
