JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Role: Sr. TechnologistSECTION I: BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE JOB ROLEJob Role Variant: Sr. Technologist Utilities (Water)Manager Job Position: Lead Technology - Utilities (Water)Value Stream: Asset OperationsJob Family: EngineeringSub-Job Family: CTS Offsites & UtilitiesLocation: JamnagarSECTION II: PURPOSE OF THE ROLETSupervise a team of Technology Engineers to deliver best-in-class technical services to Operations for improving and sustaining performance of water generation units as per business needs and support for effective water management at JMD.Implement plant performance monitoring systems, support trouble shooting, shut down and start-up activities, technology upgradation, value creation initiatives and improvement activities with an objective to drive process safety, reliability, costs and environmental performances.Provide support to Technology Manager in performing all CTS related functions and deliver results as per plan.SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLELead a team in monitoring and analysing the performance of water generation units on key parameters and advice operations to take corrective actions to improve/sustain performance.Review, validate and ensure timely issuance of daily, monthly MIIS reports.Carry out periodic test runs, evaluate performance, identify gaps and issue report with technical recommendations.Provide technical support to Operations for troubleshooting the problemsProvide technology inputs for the root cause analysis of complex process/ engineering issuesEnsure active participation during shut down and start-up activitiesReview overall water balance and issue water management plan during planned / unplanned shutdown of water generation unitsIdentify improvement opportunities and guide a team to prepare technical proposal and basic engineering package for implementation through MOCCheck technical integrity of all changes/ plant modifications as per set technical standards and guidelinesConduct value engineering in all new projects / capital intensive schemes for utilizing existing unused assets and to optimise CAPEXGuide a team in conducting detail technical studies and issue technical reportsProvide technical support for Engineering, procurement, shutdown, construction and commissioning activities of new minor / major projectsSupport generation and implementation of value creation initiatives/PIO/Encon/Process safety and reliability improvement schemesCo-ordinate with Licensors / catalyst & chemical vendors/Experts to resolve technical issues.Recommend and lead major revamp studies including trial and test runsReview and validate process engineering work carried out by Technology EngineersPrepare and issue cat-chem and energy consumption norms on monthly / yearly basis and support Operations in preparing annual opex budget for the unitSupport development of alternate vendor/chemical/additive/catalyst and issue performance evaluation reportsSupport implementation of process digitalisation initiatives by developing models / dash boards for improved process monitoringSuggest improvements and upgrades in existing processes/ equipment/ technologies to improve plant performance and process efficiency.Ensure participation in daily, monthly and other meetings as per schedule and provide technical inputs, as per needFollow applicable HSEF procedures/practices with awareness about environmental statutory regulations and safety protocolsEnsure active participation in process safety, compliance and risk management activities like HAZOP, PHA/What If, Audits, PSSR, etcLiaise with other functions like CoE, Maintenance, CES, HSEF, Projects, MEC/JEC, MPC, P&C, HR, Admin, FC&A teams for smooth plant operationSupport for training needs identification for self/team and participate to enhance knowledge, skills and competencies.SECTION IV: SUCCESS METRICSImproved and sustained plant performanceZero interruptions due to inadequate supply of waterContributions for Trouble shooting of the problemsNo of value creation and process improvement ideas generated and taken forward for implementationSECTION V: OPERATING NETWORKInternal: O&M, CoE, HSEF, CES, Site teams, HR, FC&A, engineering etc.External: Vendors, Auditors, Consultants etc.SECTION VI: KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIESEducation QualificationsA Full Time Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from reputed UniversityExperience11-15 years hands on experience in Technical Services / Operations functions preferably in Refinery UtilitiesFunctional / Behavioural competencies required to execute the roleKnowledge of Utilities MEDs, SWRO, DM plants & cooling towers, Water Chemistry and Process Engineering calculationsEffective Leadership and Communication skills, Strategic thinking and decision-making skills
