Responsibilities:
The work is varied and may include some or all of the responsibilities mentioned below:
- Strong piping stress analysis concepts and ability to perform piping stress and supports analysis of critical piping systems.
- Perform static and dynamic analysis (Time history and Response Spectrum analysis) of complex systems.
- Perform calculations such as PSV Reaction Forces, Steam Hammer, Hydraulic Forces and 2 phase slug forces.
- Perform wear pad requirements, trunnion calculations ad saddle support design.
- Prepare Piping Stress Design Guideline Based on Project Requirements.
- Review & Checking Stress Reports, Equipment GA’s, FRS & Seismic Anchor Movements (SAM), Stress Model Breakups & Critical Line List.
- Preparation of support loads to structures team and qualify primary support validations. Knowledge on Secondary support validation would be an added advantage
- Calculate and Select Spring hanger supports, Expansion joints, struts, snubbers. And Prepare data sheets for the special piping supports.
- Provide engineering advice and technical solutions in relation to plant integrity issues on operational assets;
- Perform flange leakage checks using different methods.
- Prepare technical notes and piping stress analysis reports considering project specifications.
- Liaising with all stakeholders and responsible for all technical issues related to their area of specialisation; Co-ordination with other discipline specialists where areas interface or overlap exist.
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision and work effectively as a team member on all assignments.
- Flexible to take up tasks as per project and organisation requirements.
You will need to demonstrate experience in some or all of the following areas:
- Suitable degree in Mechanical engineering (ME/BE, M.Tech/B.Tech or equivalent)
- Experience in Nuclear, Power, Oil & Gas or other highly regulated industrial environment preferred.
- Design experience in piping, pipe support and pipe layout.
- Experience in mechanical design and assessment.
- Proficiency in static, dynamic and thermal stress analysis.
- Exposure to piping fabrication, installation, testing.
- Demonstrable knowledge of design projects, or relevant experience/knowledge of process plant operations is desirable.
- Experienced with analysis software such as CAESARII, Autopipe, Pipestress (PepS), STAAD or RSTAB, Nozzle Pro. Proficiency in software tools like CAEPIPE, AutoCAD; knowledge of PDS, PDMS and other equipment design platforms highly desirable.
- Knowledge of material selection.
- Familiar with international design codes and standards (such as: ASME BPVC Section III NC & ND, RCC-M, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, BS EN 13480-3) and various other ASME/ASTM, API Standards for piping components. Knowledge of recommended practices pertaining to mechanical design, fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, quality assurance and quality control etc is desirable.
- Ability to work independently or as part of team, flexible attitude to the type of work and the level of responsibility accepted.
- Proven computer aptitude, and expertise in MS office. Experience in developing digital tools highly desirable.
- Ability to understand and define client’s requirements, plan & schedule deliverables, timelines.
- Proven strong problem solving, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to write accurate, detailed and concise technical reports (e.g. design substantiations, basis of analysis, safety case support references).
- Flexible in travelling to Atkins’ and client’s office locations around the world, if required.
