The Lead Planning Engineer is a critical role in ensuring the timely and efficient execution of complex oil & gas and fertilizer projects across multiple site locations. Reporting to the Resident Construction Manager, this position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing project schedules using industry-standard tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project. The Lead Engineer ensures alignment between engineering, procurement, and site operations, driving project performance through proactive risk management, accurate progress tracking, and data-driven decision-making. This role is instrumental in maintaining project profitability, meeting contractual commitments, and delivering projects on time and within budget.Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, and site teams to ensure seamless integration of project activities.
- Review contracts and prepare key summaries including GCC (General Conditions of Contract), SCC (Special Conditions of Contract), and SOR (Statement of Requirements).
- Monitor project progress, identify delays, assess risks, and maintain essential project registers.
- Track resource allocation, cost performance, cash flow, and overall project profitability.
- Prepare regular MIS reports, progress updates, and comprehensive job cost analyses for management review.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10 to 18 years of proven experience in project planning and scheduling within the Oil & Gas or F-NF (Fertilizer - Nitrogen & Fertilizers) sector.
- Expertise in Primavera P6 and MS Project with a strong understanding of critical path method (CPM) and schedule optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex project timelines and deliverables under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in cost tracking, progress reporting, and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
