- Manage the technical contractual scope of the project:
- Validate the technical design choices with the peers and Solution Director.
- Ensure that the designs are adhered with EN standards, ERA and European regulations or in the customer country.
- Provide viable solution for the gap developments required for the project.
- Manage the project technical risks and the corresponding mitigation plan
- Together with the Project Engineering Manager of the DLU / Project Manager, in case of contractual scope evolution, rise variation order and manage it
- Build and analyse together with the Project Architect the tailored system from the generic solution to meet Quality, Cost, Delivery and Performance (QCDP) commitments
- Verify the project requirements database (PRD) and, System Requirement Specification. Also, allocate requirements to all metiers.
- Verify the System Architecture and Product Breakdown Structure duly ensuring the RAMS.
- Able to integrate non-standard products in the project architecture.
- Validate that the System Interface Description are well defined to avoid ambiguity.
- Verify that the installation constraints are covered by installation designs.
- Act as a chairman of Project Change Control Board (CCB)
- Be responsible for the project baseline delivery including Design, V&V, and Safety
- Be accountable for WP QCD
- Together with Domain / Metier Leaders and RC Project Engineering Metier / Domain Department Heads, define the project engineering team organization according to the project phase (and as defined in the EMP)
- In compliance with the ETCS solution passport, deploy the applicable engineering process, methods & tools on the project.
- Assess competency of the teams involved in project engineering activities.
- Provide technical support to all metier in the project.
- Verify baseline strategy adhering to product / solution evolution and project milestones.
- Technically lead the interface with external stakeholders (other contractors, suppliers, customer etc.)
- Solve technical issues detected by different core team members.
- Support PrPM to plan project milestones, and PrIM to plan procurement.
- Strong understanding on all UNISIG subset documents.
- Able to provide compliance to EN standards applicable for ETCS solution.
- Aware of ETCS operations in user's (controller, driver, maintainer) point of view.
- Review documentation and challenge technical choices across all disciplines Review documentation and challenge technical choices across all disciplines.
- Understand customer requirements, develop technical solution, estimate the cost and schedule for all Engineering activities.
- Organise, lead, manage and motivate the engineering team on a project.
- Must be able to develop System Specification and Requirements.
- Must be able to define system elements and interfaces in sufficient detail to provide a basis for system implementation.
- Must be able to develop engineering strategy and identify and manage technical risks
- Must be able to make a customer confident on the way the design activities are managed and handled, to build a trust/trust relationship, representing Alstom's strategy and position.
- Must be able to manage a team to reach the best technical decision, accounting for all constraints, and to challenge when necessary.
- Ability to manage an Engineering Work Package and the associated risks. Knowledge of project management Indicators and understanding of how to use them to follow-up the project situation, identify potential problems with anticipation and address them timely manner.
