- Handle support tickets from L1 through L3, including incident resolution, request fulfillment, problem management, and change execution.
- Administer and maintain VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines.
- Manage and support Windows and Linux server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
- Perform OS patching, upgrades, and performance tuning for Windows and Linux servers.
- Monitor system health, capacity, and performance, and proactively address potential issues.
- Perform backup and restore operations using enterprise backup tools (e.g., IDPA,Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik).
- Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to ensure smooth infrastructure operations.
- Ensure system compliance with security standards, policies, and audit requirements.
- Maintain documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks for supported systems.
- Participate in automation and process improvement initiatives using PowerShell or Bash scripting.
- Plan and execute changes following ITIL change management processes.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery testing as required.
- Provide on-call support and participate in planned maintenance activities.
- Works under moderate supervision, with direction from the Manager – Systems Administration.
- Expected to exercise independent judgment in prioritizing, planning, and executing assigned tasks.
- Escalates issues to management only when policy, budget, or critical business impact decisions are required.
- Provides guidance and assistance to L1 and L2 engineers as required.
- Supports knowledge sharing within the team through documentation and peer learning.
- Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams (network, storage, security, cloud and Application).
- Works on complex infrastructure issues across virtualization and server environments, requiring deep technical expertise.
- Balances hands-on technical execution with process adherence and continuous improvement.
- Exercises independent judgment in evaluating multiple options and implementing solutions that align with business needs.
- Coordinates with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
- Anticipates risks and recommends strategies to prevent incidents and improve system reliability.
- Strong technical expertise in VMware vSphere 6/7/8, including vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, and resource management.
- Proficiency in Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, clustering).
- Proficiency in Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) server management, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, or equivalent).
- Experience with PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation.
- Knowledge of security hardening, audit compliance, and vulnerability management.
- Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 3 + year’s experience in enterprise VMware and server administration.
- Equivalent Diploma with 8+ years of related experience may also be considered.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator (MCSA/MCSE).
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA/RHCE).
- ITIL Foundation Certification.
