The Fixture CAM Jr. Engineer III at Jabil, Inc. is responsible for developing and optimizing Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programs for the fabrication of precision fixtures used in manufacturing processes, under the guidance of senior engineers. This role focuses on translating design specifications into efficient machining paths and supporting the production team.Job Responsibilities
- Develop and generate CAM programs for CNC machines, specifically for the production of manufacturing fixtures, jigs, and tooling components.
- Interpret 2D and 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine optimal machining strategies, tool selections, and cutting parameters.
- Perform simulations and validations of CAM programs to identify and resolve potential collisions, inefficiencies, or quality issues before physical machining.
- Collaborate with design engineers to provide feedback on fixture manufacturability and suggest design improvements for optimized production.
- Work closely with CNC machine operators to troubleshoot programming issues, optimize machine performance, and ensure efficient job setups.
- Maintain and update CAM software libraries, tool databases, and programming standards.
- Document CAM processes, program revisions, and best practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to fixture manufacturing processes and CAM programming techniques.
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of CAM software and related hardware.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2-4 years of experience in CAM programming for CNC machining, preferably in a manufacturing fixture or tooling environment.
- Proficient in at least one major CAM software package (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360, Esprit, NX CAM).
- Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
- Experience with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining concepts and operations.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and CAD models.
- Solid understanding of various machining processes, cutting tools, and materials commonly used in fixture fabrication.
- Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
