- Oversees and monitors Contractors' PLANT DESIGN & PIPING engineering progress, and reports to Core PMC team and Project Engineering Management.
- Reviews the design scope and deliverables for PLANT DESIGN & PIPING to ensure Contractor performs all work to agreed standards for safety, health and environment.
- Coordinates with other Contractor disciplines to ensure that multi-discipline interfaces are properly addressed with resolution of technical issues in a timely manner.
- Coordinates and participates in reviews of Contractors' engineering documents/deliverables within discipline to ensure compliance with the contract requirements, including project procedures, project specifications and applicable codes and standards. Monitors status of Contractor documents reviews for discipline
- Actively participates in design reviews including Plot Plan reviews, 3D model reviews, constructability reviews, Value Engineering etc.
- Works with other PMC lead discipline engineers to ensure that all interfaces between disciplines are clearly defined and recorded.
- Works with Core PMC team to ensure Contractor deliverables are consistent across the Project.
- Evaluates Contractor equipment and piping layout and coordinates this with the rest of the project (OSBL).
- Coordinates piping material specification requests with Core PMC team.
- Reviews Contractor requisitions and bid evaluations.
- Reviews Contractor MTOs for bulk materials and liaises with PMC Core team regarding bulk material purchase and material allocation/delivery.
- Ensures Contractor deliverables are reviewed by Bechtel SMEs when appropriate.
- Reviews vendor prints and handles concession requests.
- Reviews documents of other disciplines including P&IDs, Equipment Vendor prints etc.
- Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to clients and upper management.
- Participates in project technical reviews, progress and schedule review meetings.
- Plans for early identification of quality issues within Plant Design & Piping, including audits and off-project design reviews.
- Identify areas of potential technical and scope changes and notify Project Engineering Manager or Core PMC team as appropriate.

- A recognised degree in an engineering or a related scientific discipline, from an accredited college or university
- Experience of Licensor units within a PVC Plant.
- Broad knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria used in Plant Design and Piping including ASME B31.3, ASTM standards, Process Industry Practices, Indian Standards etc.
- Detailed understanding of the application of industry standard 2D and 3D design and automation tools, ideally this includes Microstation and Smart3D.
- Knowledge of Bechtel or other Engineering Contractor's work processes, procedures and administrative practices and has experience of applying these.
- Thorough understanding of the range of Plant Design & Piping activities including Layout, Piping Materials and Stress.
- Understanding of the roles of other disciplines on the project and key information interfaces, including P&IDs, civil/structural design, equipment datasheets and process safety input.
- High standard of oral and written communication, and use of MSOffice applications.
- Recognised professional membership, such as IMechE, OR
- Specialised training courses in relevant general engineering or Plant Design and Piping specific subjects to meet job requirements, AND
- Broad, progressive experience as a Plant Design & Piping Engineer on projects in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, other applicable sectors.
