- Create 3D models, assembly layouts, and manufacturing drawings using CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), isometric drawings, and bill of materials (BOM).
- Optimize piping layouts for flow efficiency, reduced pressure drop, and minimal vibration.
- Select appropriate materials, fittings, valves, hoses, and connectors considering corrosion resistance, thermal performance, and cost.
- Incorporate leak prevention, ease of maintenance, and assembly feasibility into designs.-Expert in DFA, DFM, DFMEA,GD &T aspect of design.- Knowledge in corrosion, scaling, SS material and metallurgical aspect. Analysis & Validation- Aware of flow analysis (CFD) and thermal-hydraulic calculations for sizing of pipes, hoses, and manifolds.
- Sound knowledge in stress analysis for pressure, vibration, and thermal expansion considerations.
- Support prototype builds and validation testing (pressure, burst, leak, and vibration tests). Documentation & Compliance- Prepare and maintain design documentation including specifications, test reports, and compliance checklists.
- Ensure designs comply with ASME B31.3/B31.9, ISO 9001, RoHS, and relevant data center cooling standards.
- Support technical reviews, DFMEA, and design approval processes. Cross-functional Collaboration- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams for integration and optimization of CDU piping.
- Collaborate with suppliers for component sourcing, manufacturing feasibility, and cost optimization.
- Provide technical guidance to installation, service, and commissioning teams. Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills- Proven experience in piping design for cooling systems, preferably in data center, HVAC, or industrial liquid cooling applications.
- Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer principles.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (Creo, or equivalent).
- Experience with P&ID creation, isometric drawings, and piping layout design.
- Familiarity with CFD and FEA tools for fluid and stress analysis (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, FloEFD, or similar).
- Understanding of welding, brazing, and tube-bending manufacturing processes. Soft Skills- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional, global engineering environment. Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in piping design.
