Since the beginning, Thales has been playing an essential role in India’s growth story by sharing its technologies and expertise in Defence, Transport, Aerospace and Digital Identity and Security markets.Position SummaryProject Engineer with reasonable supervision of the Program/Project Leader, leads teams of engineers and technical staff in the development and management of advanced in-flight entertainment Products and Systems, aircraft communication systems, and supporting systems. They are accountable for one or more projects of small to medium complexity and/or cost. They are responsible for delivering a quality product/system that meets both the technical and customer requirements. The Sr. PE performs project-level scheduling, reporting, and financial tracking of the projects, working across various functional groups to accomplish goals. They are capable of locating inefficiencies and making improvements.Essential Functions / Key Areas of ResponsibilityLead multi-discipline project teams in the development and fielding of aircraft entertainment and connectivity productsAbility to work with all levels of management internally, externally, and cross culturallyResponsible for leading all engineering activities related to project successResponsible to ensure overall project success including cost, schedule, and technical performanceGenerate and maintain execution plans, schedules, and supporting budgets for projectsGuarantees commitments to the project including satisfaction of stakeholders requirements within constraints provided by the Hardware Development team and the Project Design AuthorityIdentifies and staffs projects with the proper skill sets from within the engineering pool needed to ensure Bid / Project / Product deliveryProvide the programmatic and technical interface to key subcontractorsOptimizes technical work by organizing HW and System engineering reviews and participating to those of lower level solution elements from design to validation and acceptanceTracks competitiveness KPI, performs root cause analysis of problems and conduct associated corrective actions (Performance initiatives) as necessary.Responsible to Design, Develop and Qualify the Solution (DDQ), specifically:Build the Development StrategyProduce and Tailor the System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)Formalize requirements (Sol)Design the solution – Products or SystemsDevelop the solution through preliminary (PDR) and critical (CDR) reviewsSupport qualification/certification and final acceptanceOther duties as assigned by the employee’s manager. Exercises as a Work Package Manager, responsible for scope, budget and schedule of the assigned Work PackagesChorus Role(s)Insert Chorus Role(s) link here, if applicable:Solution Engineering ManagerWork Package ManagerMinimum Requirements: Skills, Experience, Education, Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Certifications, LanguageBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related Engineering disciplineMinimum of 8 years of related experience in Project Engineering or Master’s degree with minimum of 2yrs of Project Engineering Experience.Working Knowledge of Product/System/Solution Development processesExperience with financial tracking methods and toolsStrong analytical abilitiesHeadcount/budget managementLogical approach to problem solvingGood communicator to both internal and external customersAbility to multiplex among projectsExperience with financial tracking methods and toolsHigh level of proficiency in MS products such as Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and ProjectAbility to motivate and deliver resultsSelf-starter / Team LeaderIs flexible and adaptable to different environmentsIs able to use situational leadership skills to work collaboratively and influence key stakeholdersTakes decisions in uncertain and ambiguous contextsAble to understand complex situations, recommends appropriate strategies and simplify them for execution.Preferred QualificationsPMP certification or equivalentA minimum of 8 years’ experience as a program/project manager in the aerospace, communications, or IT industryMinimum 8 years’ experience in electronic, software, and or mechanical systems/design developmentMinimum 2 years’ experience managing a multi-disciplined engineering teamPrevious experience in planning, implementing, and leading engineering programs and projectsUnderstanding of software development methods and electrical/mechanical designNetworking, SATCOM, and/or communication systems design experienceExperience in IFE/Commercial Aviation with respect to Product/System/Solution Development, Qualification, Certification and New Product Introduction.Keep Management Informed of ProgressSpecial Position RequirementsWilling to travel on occasion both domestically as well as internationallyPresent for core business hours but hours may increase or vary based on fluctuating workloadsRequired to be on-call when necessaryAt Thales we provide CAREERS and not only jobs.
