- Leading and managing the review of electrical design packages on both Independent Engineering and Owner's Engineering scopes of work.
- Leading and managing the electrical design of renewable energy projects (primarily solar projects) from preliminary design through IFC in accordance with the pre-defined budgets, deadlines and quality requirements.
- Assist in performing/review of electrical power systems studies and calculation, including steady State, dynamic and transient stability studies simulations.
- Analyse and troubleshoot high voltage electrical systems of transmission and distribution system protective relay settings, transformers, faults, etc.,
- Assist in preparation of technical specifications, preliminary and detailed design of balance of plant systems, and selection of appropriate materials and equipment.
- Assist in preparing documents for grid connection permits, approvals, and liaising with utilities and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures
- Develop protection, control, and metering system design for electrical switching substations ranging from 138kV, 240 kV and 400 kV.
- Acting as advisor and first escalation path on the electrical team's projects, coordinating and supervising work by junior personnel, other company divisions, and subcontractors
- Develop, grow and manage procedures and operating systems to support the efficient delivery of electrical engineering tasks to the high standards required by Wood and our clients.
- Support business development and client engagement with a primary focus but not limited to electrical engineering scopes of work.
- Ensuring health, safety and environmental considerations are integral to the delivery of projects and project tasks.
- Add value, avoid/resolve issues, mitigate risks and manage project's finances and contracts by applying robust project management practices and experience from previous projects.
- Contribute to business development activities and assist in securing new opportunities for the company.
- Disseminate knowledge and experiences to other team members and supporting the development of the team and team members.
- B.E. or B.Tech or M.E. or M.Tech in Electrical or Related Field
- Wood is looking for a dynamic individual with great communication skills, ability to develop strong relationships with internal Project Managers as well as with Customers to solve their techno-economic challenges when designing and constructing a project.
- The ideal candidate will have diverse experience in design, construction, interconnection, and repowering of utility scale renewable energy projects, and will be eager to support growing a business with an entrepreneurial spirit and day to day team lead responsibilities (operations support management) of a high energy and nimble team.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant technical experience with substation engineering and transmission line design.
- Minimum 3 years' experience working with high-voltage systems.
- Prior experience in developing and reviewing equipment specifications and substation design including selection of substation equipment (power transformers, breakers, protection relays, etc.)
- Familiarity or experience with renewable plant substation design and interconnection in CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, and other regions.
- Working knowledge of NESC, NEC, ANSI & IEEE codes and other relevant industry standards.
- Knowledge of design software and power system engineering software including but not limited to ETAP, PSSE, PSCAD, Eplan, AutoCAD, CYMCAP, WinIGS, and CDEGS.
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar and/or wind projects
- Previous experience with High Voltage in North American and familiarity with codes and compliances are required.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Electrical Engineering standards, best practices and safety regulations.
- In-depth understanding of power system simulations, analysis and report preparation.
- Understanding in performing different power system studies: short circuit, load flow, static and dynamic motor starting, protection coordination, arc flash, harmonic studies and grounding studies.
- Ability to prepare high quality, concise documents to convey project progress, status and financial information to internal and external project stakeholders
- Excellent communication (written and spoken) in English, with the ability to engage and interface with stakeholders; bilingualism (or a proficiency in Spanish) a strong asset
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Electrical Engineering standards, best practices and safety regulations
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- A flexible and proactive approach to completing work
- Willingness for occasional travel (up to 20%)
