About the role:Magnit Global is looking for a Corporate Counsel in India to support our growing business across the APAC region. The Corporate Counsel (APAC) will be responsible for providing legal advisory services on HR/ER matters, drafting and negotiating contracts, conducting due diligence, and advising on data privacy issues. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders, and the ability to manage and drive successful outcomes. A successful Corporate Counsel (APAC) will be both a strategic advisor and hands-on problem solver.What You Will Do:
  • Draft, negotiate, and close a wide range of commercial agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, etc.
  • Support internal process improvements and standard practices, including creating internal legal resources (e.g., playbooks, SOPs, etc.), fine-tuning our contract lifecycle management system, and improving contracting processes and policies
  • Advise relevant stakeholders on contracting matters and mitigate exposure to the Company
  • Assist with and deliver training, playbooks, and other resources to enable the Sales team (and other internal teams)
  • Partner with various internal stakeholders to provide guidance on employment-related policies, guidelines, and processes with an approach that balances pragmatism, risk, and compliance
  • Respond to demand letters and administrative or governmental inquiries, as needed
  • Monitor legal developments affecting the business and advise on necessary operational updates or changes in the APAC region
  • Collaborate with the privacy team and other legal specialists
  • Contribute to business development initiatives including prepping internal teams for and in some cases attending client presentations
  • Work closely with external counsel as needed and support internal legal projects
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
  • Law degree (e.g., LLB, LLM, or JD) from recognized institutions
  • Member in good standing of the India bar
  • 5+ years combined experience (PQE) in a law firm and/or in-house legal department for a multinational company
  • Experience in other APAC countries preferred
  • Expertise in drafting and preparing comprehensive legal documents
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to advise on statutory compliances
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment and across multiple time-zones
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, risk assessment ability and experience in resolving complex legal issues
  • Experience in offering clear and strategic legal advice to stakeholders
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain legal terms and issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders
  • A low-ego, high-empathy orientation to internal colleagues and external partners
  • A "doer" attitude willing to roll up your sleeves and pitch in where needed
