The SPM/Fixture Designer at Jabil, Inc. is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of special purpose machinery (SPM) and fixtures used in manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.Job Responsibilities
  • Design and develop SPM and fixtures from concept through to production, utilizing CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to understand requirements, specifications, and production challenges.
  • Conduct design reviews, analyze feasibility, and provide innovative solutions for complex manufacturing problems.
  • Generate detailed 2D and 3D drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions.
  • Perform stress analysis, tolerance stack-up analysis, and material selection to ensure design integrity and performance.
  • Support the procurement and fabrication of SPM and fixture components, working with internal and external suppliers.
  • Participate in the assembly, testing, and validation of designed equipment, troubleshooting and implementing design modifications as needed.
  • Document design processes, changes, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality procedures.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 1-4 years of experience in SPM, jig, and fixture design within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software SolidWorks is essential.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, kinematics, dynamics, and material science.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, assembly, and automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Jabil
