Our mission is to drive innovation and excellence in automotive engineering, digitalization, and sustainable mobility solutions, shaping the future of mobility.Mercedes-Benz Research and Development, India is seeking a Sr. Technical Lead with a strong technical background in BIW repair and spare parts documentation in GSP domain.What is GCSP?GCSP is the bridge between RD and retailers that defines and ensures the wellness of every vehicle ever produced until its entire lifecycle and till it becomes a classic. GCSP affects our retailers & workshops directly and ensures customer satisfaction throughout their vehicle use experience. Overall GCSP generates more than 30% revenue for the entire organization.For this every component of every vehicle needs to be rightly understood, to define the best ways it can be assessed in the workshop environment for service and maintenance. Technical understanding of entire vehicle systems in relation to the way it was designed and the environment it will be manufactured, assembled, sold and maintained is very important. With our commitment towards sustainability, we work for re-using the salvaged components by making them re-fit for use again. Remanufacturing is such domain where many such high value components are re developed, tested and re used in existing or new car lines.Job OverviewYou will be responsible for re-designing and re-developing brakes and allied components as part of remanufacturing. This would include interacting with RD, material experts, supply chain, external suppliers and aftersales colleagues.Key Responsibilities· You will be accountable for the design & development of Reman or alternate components (brakes & allied components)· Responsible for committed projects, aligning work with team and delivering the results as per quality & time· New supplier development for Afterseries components, in variants using Aftermarket specifications· Supplier audits in co-ordination with the RD and MP colleagues· New raw material suggestion for the existing components· Suggest the component level testing and validate the results· Engineering documentation of the Afterseries parts in Dialog, Primus and Smaragd· Coordinate with various stakeholders (GCSP Logistics, MP, PM & Suppliers etc) to make sure the parts reach various markets based on the demand· Participation in various Technical Meetings (Gremiums) based on the needRequired Skills & Experience· Minimum 5 years of experience in Brake System Development with Automotive OEM. Experience with MNC preferred.· Expert knowledge Component engineering/ Product development for of brake components and sub-systems & basics of Brake system simulation.· Expert knowledge of test requirements and testing process for brake pads and brake discs and good experience in Component Validation on Test Bench / Test Vehicle.· Understanding of new product development process lifecycle.· Exposure to supplier interaction, supplier engagement and negotiations is preferred.· Experience of problem solving and root cause analysis.· Good presentation and documentation skills.· Should be a quick learner and a team player and ability to work under challenging situations.· Knowledge of German language and previous international experience is an added advantage.QualificationsEducation Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced certifications or training in automotive systems, brake system engineering, or remanufacturing technologies will be a plus.
Good to Have
  • Knowledge of German language to facilitate communication with international teams and partners.
  • Previous international work experience or exposure to global automotive markets.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and software used in automotive engineering such as CAD, simulation tools, or PLM systems.
  • Understanding of sustainability practices and remanufacturing processes in the automotive industry.
  • Experience with cross-functional team collaboration in a matrix organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multi-stakeholder coordination.
