The Global Procurement (GP) organization at United Airlines is responsible for procuring goods and services and developing/managing relationships with third-party providers with the objective of reducing cost and risk to the company while improving levels of quality, service, and technology.Job overview and responsibilities
The primary responsibility for a Sourcing Specialist is to provide end-to-end procurement support to the sourcing teams in India and the US. This position will focus on providing managing procurement activity for categories such as hotels for the airline business.
  • Creation and management of requests for proposal (RFP) process which can include detailed external supply market analysis, internal demand assessment of the category, design and creation of the RFP, system set-up and administration, RFP analysis using total cost of ownership (TCO) concepts, supplier evaluation scorecards, ongoing collaboration, and proactive communication with all stakeholder groups on the supplier selection process
  • Redline and negotiate contracts by collaborating with United’s legal team, Global Sourcing leaders and other stakeholder teams
  • Manage business relationships with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers including routine enhancements to agreements, communication of demand/volume changes, updating contracts and sharing end-user feedback
  • Participate in vendor management activities which may include following-up on performance against contract (compliance) and resolution of any constraints or issues
  • Create and manage dashboards/excel reports and track relevant metrics for specified categories
Develop knowledge and expertise in the assigned spend categories; drive savings by working with various stakeholders and category manager while ensuring user needs are met.This position is offered on local terms and conditions.   • Bachelor's degree required in Finance, Engineering, Economics, or another relevant field
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience, ideally in procurement, supplier management, or finance
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and people skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Organized, detail-oriented, thorough and professional
  • Works well in high-paced cross-functional environment
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concepts or strategic sourcing processes
  • Familiarity with advanced Microsoft Excel techniques
  • Work experience with an airline, or familiarity with airline operations
  • Work experience with a hotel, or familiarity with hotel operations
  • Work experience in a consulting or analytical role
