ob DescriptionThe Lab HOD (Head of Department) is responsible for leading and managing the laboratory operations within the Steel Melting Shop (SMS). This role ensures accurate and timely chemical and physical testing of raw materials, molten metal, and finished products. The Lab HOD is accountable for maintaining quality standards, supervising lab personnel, and coordinating with production for real-time process control.🔧 Key Responsibilities:Lead overall SMS laboratory operations, ensuring accurate testing of molten steel, slag, billets, and raw materials.Supervise spectrometer analysis, slag chemistry, and sampling procedures.Maintain and calibrate lab equipment including spectrometers, balances, and sample prep machines.Monitor and control heat-wise chemical composition as per product specifications.Ensure adherence to BIS/IS standards, quality norms, and plant-specific SOPs.Coordinate with production and quality control teams for real-time corrective actions.Generate and verify Test Certificates (TCs) for dispatch-ready materials.Maintain detailed records of sample logs, test reports, and calibration schedules.Train and manage lab technicians, assign shift duties, and ensure operational discipline.Conduct periodic internal audits, safety reviews, and compliance checks.Recommend improvements in lab operations, testing accuracy, and efficiency.🎓 Qualification:B.Sc (Chemistry / Physics / Industrial Chemistry / Metallurgy) or higher9–12 years of experience in a steel plant laboratory, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory/HOD role🧠Key Skills:Spectrometer operation & calibrationChemical composition control (C, Mn, Si, S, P, etc.)Lab team managementQuality assurance & documentationProcess coordination with SMSJOB APPLYhttp://jobs.vinayakjob.com/CONTACT DETAILS - Name - MANISHA SAHU Number - 9109993513
