We're hiring a Senior Manager - Software Engineering (SME) to lead the end-to-end build of a new R&D software function for a global MedTech company, based in Ahmedabad. The role involves defining the tech architecture, hiring and leading a full-stack team, and delivering integrated software solutions in a hardware-driven, regulated environment.Key Responsibilities:Lead the software engineering charter for the MedTech R&D team, setting up processes, practices, and technical standards from scratch.Define the overall software architecture and technology stack, ensuring alignment with hardware systems and regulatory requirements.Build and scale a high-performing engineering team including full-stack developers, frontend/backend engineers, DevOps, SDETs, and architects.Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, validation, and system engineering teams to deliver fully integrated product solutions.Drive Agile development practices, oversee sprint planning, and establish robust CICD and DevOps pipelines for efficient and secure delivery.Ensure quality and compliance by setting up code quality frameworks, automated testing processes, and documentation standards aligned with MedTech regulations.Act as a technical leader and mentor, guiding both architectural direction and individual team growth.Partner with leadership to define project roadmaps, assess technical risks, and ensure timely delivery of product milestones.Lead the complete software buildout for a next-gen MedTech productWork at the intersection of software and proprietary hardware in a high-impact RThe Successful Candidate Will Have:15+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of building and scaling tech teams in product-based environments - preferably in MedTech, IoT, embedded systems, or smart devices.Deep understanding of full-stack development, including modern frontend frameworks, backend microservices, cloud-native architectures (AWS/GCP), and DevOps/CICD practices.Strong experience working in hardware-software integrated environments, ideally within regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, automotive, aerospace).Hands-on technical expertise with the ability to drive architecture, code quality, and delivery while mentoring and managing senior engineers and architects.Demonstrated ability to set up teams from 0 to 1, define scalable processes, and drive cross-functional collaboration with R&D counterparts (mechanical, electrical, systems).Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of working closely with BU heads and global leaders to align on strategy and execution.A builder's mindset - comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and motivated by the opportunity to create high-impact tech solutions that improve lives.Preference for candidates open to relocating to AhmedabadOur client is a global leader in the space, known for developing cutting-edge medical devices and solutions that combine proprietary hardware with advanced software.
