Ummeed offers its team members opportunities to grow professionally and personally, inculcating and reflecting a strong culture of supervision and mentorship and the space for continued learning.About the position at Ummeed:The School Outreach Services at Ummeed works with schools to promote an inclusive policy, culture, and practice for children with diverse needs /disabilities in schools. Often families that come to Ummeed have concerns about the schooling of their children. Once in the school, they need ongoing support for a variety of issues. The school outreach services envisage addressing these issues and building capacities in schools by spreading awareness and conducting training programs for various stakeholders, to support children with diverse needs within the school system. Being on the School Outreach Team will allow you to work with various stakeholders within a school or/and in the space of education to create awareness and sensitivity to promote an inclusive environment for children with diverse needs, to reach their maximum learning potential in both academic and social arenas. Along with this, in the clinical arena of Ummeed, you will also be expected to evaluate children for academic challenges and to provide them and their families with the required support, to strengthen their areas of 2 challenges and help them to perform to the best of their potential, using Ummeed's core value of family centred care.Primary Responsibilities:➢ Conduct informal assessments or curriculum-based assessments for children in the age group of 4 years to 15 years and prepare a report➢ Based on the assessment report, support the families by providing appropriate recommendations and home programs ➢ Design and conduct remedial sessions with children in one-on-one/pairs/small groups➢ Engage with schools and partner organizations to identify their training needs in the space of diversity and inclusion➢ Facilitate and conduct trainings and workshops for different stakeholders➢ Create/customize training modules specific to a training program for different stakeholders like teachers, principals, coordinators, etc.➢ Continuous documentation of activities specific to school outreach services➢ Work in liaison with other team members of the school outreach services to advocate for children with disabilities/diverse needs and their caregivers within schools and the education system➢ Minimum Qualifications: D. Ed /B.Ed. (Special Education) / M. Ed. (Special Education) from a recognised university. Essentials Skills Required:➢ Knowledge and experience in carrying out individualized informal assessments.➢ 2-3 years' experience working with children with different developmental disabilities. either in a one-on-one way or in small groups➢ 3-5 years of experience in conducting training preferably within a school/education space➢ Ability to adhere to timelines and deadlines for the team tasks and activities➢ Excellent conversational skills in English and Marathi➢ Excellent documentation skillsOthers: Ummeed gives preference to a candidate who is interested in putting in at least 40 hours per week.Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
